heys guys, please all serious talk, i'm in the position on getting a new engine or shortblock, so i been looking through all the forums for months, and still haven't made my mind up. its either get a 6 bolt block from a company, sbr, magnus, hess, or just buy a 6 bolt engine from somebody selling, or just rework my 7 bolt? i really need help deciding what i should do here, i'm stuck and hopefully with your suggestions it will make up my mind and start this project. thanks guys for all your help, and please keep this serious. :talon:

if u dont want risk any more problems like CW or easily spun bearing then ditch the 7-bolt idea now.

Since u considered the shops u listed then u probably dont mind spending a little $$$, I would probably take that route.

If u want to do this on a budget, then rebuild a 6-bolt yourself and install it.

it really depends on what you want, your not giving us enough info?

Do you have mechanical experience to do a 6-bolt swap or build a motor?

How much hp are you considering?

Big budget, low budget? etc.

well lets just say i have in the middle budget, and me and my friends do have knowledge to build a 6 bolt, i'm just wondering if i should get just the shortblock, or should i just get a 6 bolt engine and go on from there, instead of buying just the shortblock and supporting stuff to make the 1g into 2g conversion. i'll just drop a whole 6 bolt engine in. and i'm looking for maybe 400hp, doesn't even have to be that much, i can always do other stuff later on. let me know guys. thxz

get a stage 1 or 2 magnus motorsports racing shortblock its like 2500-3000 but they're nice

if your planning to make more power in the future, might as well do it now. Buy a used 6-bolt and build it.

this is what I am doing at the moment.

Eagle/wiseco is a very cheap setup considering what you'll get.

if you can get a complete motor, that will even be better. You will have the Cam angle sensor that you wont have to search for and maybe a flywheel and oil pan, water neck etc.

then rebuild it using the combo above, arp hardware and metal head gasket, balance shaft eliminator.

thxz king, think i'm gonna go with a whole 6 bolt engine, maybe a 92, only other thing is will i be able to use my 2g stuff like intake and shyt, or gonna have to sell it, and buy new stuff?

Lets assume you have approx 4-5k to spend at this point.
You have two options:
1: buy a motor with a name on it, ala Buschur, or Magnus,
or
2: build the same quality motor on your own for about a grand less than they charge.
My advice: if you and your friends feel confident in building your own motor, then do so. That means more money to spend on mods *right now*
