Could you run a n/t 6-bolt block as a turbo block if you were to build it up. I have a extra block I may make into a big rod motor. Does it make a difference with the oil squirters not being there. I would swap to 2g pistons, new rods, new bearings, new rings and all. I tried looking it up but didnt find anything. thanx

I have heard that it is a bad idea to use a non-turbo block for a turbo motor. I do not know exactly why but it has something to do with the oil sqirters and a few other things. I would look around for a turbo with a bad head or something and use the block from that, it will be a safer way.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter. The blocks are made the same minus the oil squirters. I think one of the wisemen is using a NT block in his car and has no problems at all.

there's a couple threads on this already, surprised you didn't find anything.
anyway, NT and turbo blocks are the same, minus the oil squirters. i think you have to tap the back of the NT block for the knock sensor also (but not 100% sure of this)

Where the knock sensor goes in on the turbo block there is already and whole for it threaded and everything in the NT block. Might be a little tough to start because of the rust build up but it will go in, just make sure it's the right one because there are 3 holes real close.

so it should be ok as long as i get the knock sensor in and situated. i just have a spare block im gonna build up for the future, i might as well since i just have a block sittin here.:thumb:

i dont know about the 1g n/t block in a awd. i know the bell housing on the 1gawd is bigger than the fwd and they dont line up right. maybe you could take a 1g 6-bolt awd and put it into a 2g awd. that should work

not having the oil squirters wont matter with aftermarket pistons cause all they do is keep everything cool (thats what ive heard) but the tranny's are different...thatd be your problem

As long as you build up your N/T block with turbo internals, yet keep the n/t flywheel, the tranny won't be a problem. Finding a clutch WILL be a problem. Just remember to keep the turbo flywheel with the turbo tranny and the n/t flywheel with the n/t tranny.

the clutch shouldnt be a problem. from what i understand they make clutches for the n/t fwd so i can use that with the fwd n/t setup.

arent the clutches the same from fwd n/t to the turbo fwd?

which would be able to be used with a n/t flywheel. or could i change the flywheel?

i think the clutches are trasmissiion specific,i've done a little research on this because i'm putting together a turbo motor/nt tranny combo.

let me know what you find out. i want to take a n/t tranny and block and build it up as a turbo motor.i have the block and i can get a trans in the future so i was wondering what i would have to do to make this work.
