I just picked up my Victory Performance O2 Sensor Housing with external dump today. I got an awesome deal on it and I want to install it ASAP!!!

Here's the Q:
Do I need to drop down my turbo to get the housing off??? Please tell me no, cause I don't want a long @$$ install. Thanks a lot guys!

Brian

PS...lets stay on topic, no whoring please

No you don't. I find the easiest way to do anything with the O2 housing is simply remove it with the turbine housing and then separate it off the car. Should only take 15 minutes tops....

I am confused here...LOL.

Isnt the turbine housing the turbo itself? might you have any pics of what you are talking about???? Because taking the turbo off the car is a big ordeal.....it will take close to 15 min to take off the DP alone....thanks man!

the first time i did it from under the car without taking off the turbo. the second time i took the turbo off. i learned ;)

i dont know about taking off just the exhaust housing, never heard of it done that way, but im interested since im doing a little porting this weekend.

So you think taking the turbo off is necessary then? Seeing as though you did it once w/o dropping it, how long did it take you to do the O2 housing swap? What is needs to be done aside from take the bolts off and put the new part on? Do I need to take off any fans or anything to get better access? Thanks man!

i only removed the downpipe when doing it from under the car i think. all the nuts on the O2 housing were such a pain in the ass to get to. you get to see how well your tear ducts work though, as there will be little black streams of soot and rust running out of your eyes. you need a deepwell socket to get at one of them, and another is also very tough. taking the turbo off wasnt very hard, and took less time. i would do it that way, as you hurt less and learn more when you are finished. it seems like more work but i dont really think it is.

oh, the first time when i did it from under the car, i installed a ported 2G O2 housing, the second time i installed an O2 dump like the one you bought....doing the tubular O2 dump from under the car would be a freaking nightmare.

I installed a VP o2 dump from under the car, Without taking off the turbo. The bolt against the block is hard to get to but can be reached with a 14mm deep well socket. There is a coolent line in the way just losen it and take the bolt out. I can do a o2 housing swap in about 30-45 min if everything goes smooth.

Thanks so much for your info and lack of ass-ness......hehe
I shall be doing it as soon as tomorrow night. Oh, BTW, how long do you think I should let it cool before starting it so I dont burn my little fingers .hehe? My guess was about an hour or two, but since you've done it, I'll take your advice on it, oh and do I need to take off the head shield? I assume so. Does the fan need to come off or is that a waste of time? Thanks a lot, again :thumb:]

I just installed a o2 dump housing last weekend. It was my first time and the whole process took me and my friend about 2 hours. I took off the fan, and heat shields. We let the car sit for over an hour and used plenty of mousemilk to help break the rusted bolts loose. It was pretty easy, just took a little time to do it the way we did.

Good luck
Greg

I didn't know it would be such a pain to remove the O2 housing.

I was going to take my stock one out tomorrow, to install one with a dump tube.
I better give myself a little more time

Its actually VERY easy. The only prob with mine was that the O2 sensor didnt want to come off at all. I hate those things. Anyways just jack up the car and throw some jackstands under there. Take off the driver side fan, heat shields, and downpipe. I think it easier to take out your oil filter in order to take out the bolt in the back. dont forget to drain your oil though :p If your o2 sensor dont come off unplug the wire and clamp it down somewhere, then bang that wrench like it like was your girlfriends younger sister. and thats it. oh yeah use a TON of wd40 if you've never taken it off before. Good luck and happy boosting

I just finished installing my Dumped O2 Housing, piece of cake. didn't have to install the turbo at all, it took me about 1 hour.
Only the 1 screw in behind against the engine was a little tough to get to, but with a little tweak and it was done.

Damn, it sounds sweeeeeeeeeeeeet.

word of advice, be careful going wot when there is a mean looking guy in a 64 impalla with his window down right next to you. He might get mad and TRY to chase you.

Spray down every bolt with PB Blast, liquid wrench, or WD40 and let it sit for a little while. Preferable spray it on while it's hot, and then the liquid will seep into the threads as the metal cools and loses some of it's expansion. If you take the entire turbo off, you will have hell trying to crack the bolts loose. Being on the car allows you the leverage most times needed to crack them free.
