I didn't see this any place so I hope it already hasn't been posted. What is everyones thoughts on porting Vs. new on O2 housing and manifold. I reallize that its cheaper to get your mani and 02 ported, but how big of flow difference is there? what are your guys thoughts. I am about to start my exhaust this summer and i don't want to spend the money on port work if its better to get a new mani and o2. I would like to get as much out of the car as possible and still have a everyday driver.
 
might as well start a 21st.
 
I think it depends on how much you are willing to spend and how far you are taking the car. A good porting job will take you pretty far, but if you're going extreme, nothing will replace bigger parts to begin with. Since you already have a 2g, I would say get everything ported and see if that fits your needs. If not, you can always sell them and upgrade.

What do you mean, porting vs new? You don't have any mention of what kind of porting, what parts are on the car now, or what the new parts will be.


For example: A ported 1g O2 is probably as good as a new 2g O2, but not as good as a tubular one.

A ported 1g manifold is not as good as a new 2g manifold, and definitely not as good as a ported 2g manifold.

Are you planning on replacing the old stuff with the same thing, only newer? Or are you getting some crazy new race parts?
