Is it possible to re-clock the turbo without having to re-balance it? The reason I ask is because I am building my own FMIC piping and I want to eliminate the J-Pipe and just hook my 2 1/4 right up to the compressor outlet. Any informaition on this would help out a lot. Thanks in advance.

If your turbo is internally gated, you will need a new bracket for the waste gate actuator to mount on. The only other thing you need to do is grind of the original locating pin so that the compressor housing can spin once the clip is removed (I assume this is a 14b or 16G?).

Yes, this is a HRC Super 16G. So I would have to fab a new mount for the WG actuator, no problem there. The other thing you said that I would have to grind down the tab? I assume you mean on the compressor housing correct? Could you please explain more.

There should be a very small dowl pin on the center section when you take the compressor housing off, this pin corresponds to a hole in the compressor housing. In order to turn the compressor housing, you need to grind off the pin. Take off the housing and you will see what I mean. All you need is a pair of snap ring plyers and some patients, that ring is sometimes hard to get out.

I should be able to remove the comp housing without having to rebalance the turbo though. I am planning on doing this with the turbo still on the car so that is crucial.

Removing the comp housing is nothing more than taking off the big clam that runs around the center of the turbo correct?

I am sorry, I gave you a poor explanation of this, I just took some pictures to give you a better understanding. You will not need to rebalance because you dont have to touch the wheels.

This is a picture of the complete turbo, the arrow points to the snap ring you need to remove to pull the compressor housing off:

This is what the snap ring looks like off and what the center cartridge looks like from the other side (you will still have the exhaust housing on so you wont be able to look at it from this view). Once you remove the snap ring, just pull on the compressor housing and it should come off:

This is the compressor housing off. Notice the small pin that I am refering too. you will need to grind this as it fits in a small divit in the center cartridge:

That should do it for you. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cool, thanks a lot, Just e-mail them to me if you want.

So once I get rid of that pin in there I can rotate the comp housing any direction I want without any problems?

Thank god I have an L2R with the 360 degree housing and the wastegate bracket on teh turbone housing so clocking it is a breeze.

Cool, thanks. I just got this done. It wasn't that hard at all. The pictures helped out a lot too. Thanks for your help...again....
