16G install kit ?

I bought a Big 16G from Turbochargers.com with their install kit for a 2G and noticed that it didn't come with the braided steel oil lines. They offer these but they are another $45. I am wondering if I can purchase them seperately or is it easier to just buy their kit? If anybody has used their oil line kit does it feed from the factory 2G location or 1G? I would prefer the 2G location. Another thing is how much boost should I run with this turbo, full 2.5" turbo back exhaust, MBC, BOV, 190lph fuel pump, but with stock injectors and no S-AFC? I have a boost gauge too.

Here is a link to a picture of the kit

Do I need to rewire the new fuel pump or not, if I eventually plan on running higher boost?

I was under the assumption that you reuse your esisting line with that kit. Although.. I think that in order to have a valid warrenty you HAVE to buy a new line, wether it be ss or OEM.

I've read that the BIG 16G turbos perform at there best from 14-18 PSI. I'm sure that you can push it up to or past 20psi, but i think what they were saying is that once you exceed 18 PSI your not going to see much more increase in performance. I have seen small 16G turbos on 1G DSM's turn 1/4mile times of 12.1 and faster

Hey twitch I got a good price on mine from turbochargers.com $824 delivered to the door but if I were you I would get it ported and a larger WG flapper installed from them. I didn't but wish I had because now I have to worry about boost creep. I'll cross my fingers and hope it doesn't happen. Good luck with yours.

The line that you see on the right hand side of the picture is the new oil feed line. It feeds from the top left hand corner of the cylinder head. There is a plug in there right now. Just use that line. It works very well, and has a shorter distance to travel than the lower line. Shorter distance -> less resistance -> more oil. All you have to do is plug the old line up, which is very easy. Just use some gasket sealer on the plug so it doesn't leak. When putting the new line in, ONLY TORQUE THE PLUG TO 10-14 FT-LBS!!! I can't stress this enough. Use a good, accurate torque wrench for this. You will strip the threads in the head if you torque it to more than this.

Hope this helps,
Matt.

So this kit does come with everything I need ot put it on? Just need to make sure because I don't want to start and have to order something or make a run to the store.

Thanks it does help

Matt

The only other things that I would pick up with this kit are new soft lines for the water (5/16" flexible hose, can be bought at any parts store, get two feet of it...), and to make sure that the little blue plug in the picture is in fact to plug up the old oil feed line. I would also get new banjo bolts for the water lines, crush washers (looks like those are included), and new gaskets for the exhaust manfold (if you're porting it), O2 sensor housing, turbo to exhaust manifold, and downpipe. It doesn't look like those are included with the kit, and they are kinda pricey. Just the manifold to turbo gasket is like $40.00. I would give Triple Digit Motorsports in Newington a call. They put a kit together for me with a lot more parts for about the same price. They will be more than willing to work with you, and can get good pricing on a 16G too....

Good Luck,
Matt.

I have ordered a kit from TC as well and I hope to get it in a wek or two from now.I would also like to know exactly what is requiered to get this turbo onto a 2G..with the use of the Install kit?Does everything comes necessery to mount it on or does it require aditional work being done?

I also bought a new Down Pipe from DSMotorsport and its the 2.5" O2 elim. pipe. They said it would come with the gaskets but are these the correct gaskets for what I need? And the instructions from VFAQ said I need a new turbo to exhaust manifold bolt. Is that needed too? Any recomendations on the boost I should run with my setup?

thanks,
Matt

Anotehr quick question. I went to VFAQ and looked for the instructions on how to install a MBC but the page is down or moved so I can't view it. I know how to but I'm a little confused about where to connect to the wastegate at. Do I take the hose going to the WG and coming from the turbo housing out and connect it there then plug up the hole in the T fitting where it came from? Any help here would be very appreciated.

Matt

No, it's a little different than that. First, disconnect your Boost Control Solenoid (BCS). There will be two rubber lines coming out of it, one to your intake, and one going to the T-25. Plug the line going to the intake by taking the plastic insert out of the bcs line, and putting a rubber cap on it. Next, remove the lines that connect the wastegate and turbo pressure nipple. Cap the turbo pressure nipple. Now, connect the first end of the boost controller to the wastegate. Next, cut the line between your blow off valve and valve cover. Use the T fitting on your boost controller to join the line and your boost controller. Set the controller to it's LOWEST setting and go for a ride. Adjust to your taste.
