Hey guys whats up? Aight ive never posted in this here forum cause ive had no reason too. but that may all change come monday... I found a 95 GST with 97000 miles and they are offering to take my car (97 GS with 67000 miles) and give me the GST and "a few bucks". They apparently have NO IDEA what they have. They thought mine was a six cylander... anyways they are like why are you trading down? And im like well i want a five speed. and they are like well then a trade is gonna be REAL easy and youll get a few bucks out of it no problem. SO im thinking of asking 1500 and the GST. Well anyways my question is... how many miles are 4G's generally good for? keep in mind with the money i get back from this trade its going to a major tune up. getting it timed again, new belts, plugs, wires, and caps. and after it runs near the end of its life how much is a stock rebuild for it? sorry if this is a repost but im really excited and i didnt take time to search. IM FINALLY GONNA HAVE A REAL CAR!!!! haha the 420A sucks and im no longer afraid to say it!!!!!!

It should be alright. Like you said. Do a major tune up. As long as you dont beat on your car everday and just put it through its paces then there is nothing you can really do. People have boosted 20psi and higher on engines that are 140 and above..but people have also broke parts at 15psi on a 76,000 mile engine. No one can really tell you how long your engine is going to last. Just keep up with it and hope for the best.

IMHO i think that is a very wise trade.

I ran my car to 169,080 before I finally blew it...and I ran the dog sh1t out of it...like t25 at 16psi WOT everyday...it will take a beating....

heh...every dsm has its "gremlins" though, mine just came in every other flavor EXCEPT engine

awesome guys thanks a bunch for the input. im pretty sure im gonna go thru with it. see im only a junior in HS and this will be my third car. i think thats why my moms hesitant to let me trade. but i told her it was a wise trade and that the 4G63s are super strong. also i told her the money i get back from the trade will easily pay for the tune up needed, and go toward a rebuild kit in case i need one sometime. id plan on rebuilding it at 150K miles. how much are rebuild kits by the way? (stock rebuild)

Forget the rebuild kit unless the compression is about 130 psi or less. Just take the money, do the full tune up, and start moddin! You're gonna giggle like a little girl when you crank up the boost the first time!
