I found this link posted over on the GVR-4 forum for the ExhaustDepot.net 1G downpipe. It says it's full stainless and by the looks of the pic it seems to be a nice piece. It's a combo of both a dp and midpipe. And for $169 is a pretty good deal. Just wondering if anybody has any experience with it before I decide to buy one.

It looks good. As long as it's mandrel bent I would have bought one if I didn't have a DP already.

And that flex section is way to short..

Yeah, I agree that the flex section looks a bit short, but I don't think it's too short to be bad. If it didn't have one at all then that would be a different story :)

talonted_one: Yeah, please post your opinion on this once you get it. If it's not that great then I'll just go with the full RNR O2 elim. system instead. But if this is a good piece for the money then it'll give me the chance to get the JIC Magic catback I've been droooooooling over for months now :D

It does look like it necks down to bolt up to the stock cat. That really isn't a good design. You are going to be killing all that flow because you go from 2.5" bends to 3" bends and then back down to bolt up to the stock cat. They should have made it with a 3" flange.

The flex looks a little small, but it will work I guess.

I guess I am just partial to a full 3" system. I have never liked the downpipes that go 2.5" and then expand to 3" after the flex and it's still called a 3" downpipe. This is similar to the N1 downpipe.

well kids I finally recieved the down pipe and installed it.

It's a beautifully fitting piece with real nice welds. the pipe fits so well in fact hat it doesnt need hangers. whether or not thats a good thing I dunno. the only thing I can say negative about this down pipe is what RnR said...It's not technically a true 3" downpipe. other than that I think it's a steal for 169 bux.

Im happy with it my car acutally sounds like a DSM now...damn cat and stock down pipe.

heres my personal experience with exhaust sizes. i had a true 3" turbo back exhaust. on a whim i replaced my 3" test pipe with a 2 1/2" test pipe and my throttle response was MUCH bettter. i think the little bit of backpressure did it. for me this design is very nice as it allows for good throttle response and doesnt really hamper top end flow.

would you guys agree with what this dude is saying? according to RRE, 2.5" piping for the first 12" of the DP is actually not bad, but according to the RNR vendor, he says it will kill air flow? there arent many true 3" DP's, now are there? also, would it be bad for the DP to neck back down to 2.5"? this is a pretty cheap downpipe that also replaces the stock cat. i currently have a 2.5" Buschur racing downpipe and a 2.5" test pipe. i am not sure if i should purchase this Dp for the extra bigger 3" piping rather than the 2.5" set up i have now besides my Thermal catback. anyone with any experiences on this exhaust depot downpipe? sorry for reviving this old thread..... :shhh:

not everyone can copy a buschur racing downpipe like you.

how do you copy a downpipe design? seriously its a piece of metal thats 3 inches wide, almost every compnay that makes a full 3 inch is going to make it the same way because there really is no other way to make it

so did the pipe bottle neck back down to a 2.5 at the flange at the verry end?

I have one of these. Great pipe, TONS of flow. Great throttle response. Judging by my never ending quest to end boost creep, I'd say the flow is pretty good. It's 2.5 inches for the last 8 inches of pipe up to the O2 sensor housing connector, which makes it easier to bolt up than a true 3 inch unit. I put a 3 inch high flow cat on mine, with band clamps. Works well when I want to swap a test pipe in at the track.

I bought my dp from exhaust depot and it's just as good as any of the others. it's 2.5" to the flex and then 3" straight to the catback. mine does not go back to 2.5" at the end though. 3" turbo backs are awesome but there is 1 problem with them. most guys know when they go to change the oil and the dp is in the way of the filter. you have to use a filter from another car that is shorter and fatter and they just don't seem to work right. hope this helps.

I have it and my only complaint is how close the flex section is to my transfer case, like right on it. But that may be due to the installer.

And the neck down at the flange is not 2.5, maybe 2.75 but really like its going to matter in a day to day driving unless your putting out like 500+ hp.
