1G and 2G head differences

Which head is better? I heard the 1g head is better. Are there advantages to both or what? By the way I have a 96 gst with a bad head. Thanks alot, MATT

1gen heads have bigger ports than 2gen heads, and thus flow more air.

Also it doesn't matter if you get a head off a turbo car or not. The heads from either 4G63 are the same except for a plug which can be removed from the non turbo head.

I saw mention in another thread somewhere that the best heads are the late 1G heads-- why is that? Is it because they flow the best?

Sorry I meant the head itself. This does not enclude cams etc. The non turbo and turbo cams are different. But yes, the head itself is the same.
