What kind of power does a 16G make? with just some mild basic stuff boost contoller intake and exhaust? I am getting my 16G and i was just wondering if any of you had some dyno numbers on them. I can't decide if i want to have it cliped or not. If any of you whith a cliped 16G and a uncliped 16G have some dyno numbers that would be great. Also is it worth it to have it ported? What does porting do? From what i understand doesn't it help prevent boost spike or help spool faster?

ooops!.. dont dare ask for a dyno number! LOL

:shhh: :shhh: :shhh:

Ok. i take back the Q about dyno numbers so what about porting? is it worth it to port it? I am looking to just break into the 12's nothing to extream.

port it dont clip it....but with just intake and exhaust you will make a better power band with the 14b

My 14B's waste gate flaper is messed up so i am getting a 16G. In about a month or two after the turbo is broken in along with the clutch i will be getting some larger injectors most likely some 550 with a super afc. Are 550's to small? I want to get a size that is the turbo wont max out. From what i have heard a 16G and 14B make about the same power around 13-14PSI but the 16G shows it stuff around 15 and up PSI.

When I had 550's with my 16G they were definitely too small. I was getting fuel cut at 18psi and whenever I tried leaning it out to get rid of the fuel cut, my EGTs would start spiking past 1700 and I'd have to richen it up again. I ended up getting 660's and since then I've run 22psi without any fuel cut.

one question = 2 then aftet that you always get another. just get the 16g port it yourself so you can learn about this kind of crap and then go one step at a time. I may make a few more ponies on the topend after about 16psi or so but low end, espencially when your car only has an exhaust, is where the 14b will smack the 16g and say "yeah...sup now". Ill be simple and breif. The 16g w/ minimal support (550's/afc/exhaust/boost/driving/c16) will net 12's easy. Depending on your driving and tuning capapbilities you may see low or high 12's who knows. Clipping 16g's is silly IMO, porting a turbo shoudl be a necessity for every single one. 550's are more than enough for your goal. ANything else =) ?

Sigh...injectors don't cause fuel cut.

larger injectors allow you to let the ecu see less air via an afc therefore allowing you to run higher boost w/o fuel cut. but yes, injectors themselves aren't the source of the fuel cut.

LOL...thanks man...kinda what I was going for, but didn't elaborate since Austin took care of the guy already :thumb:

yeah, I think you and I are the ones that always jump in on the fuel cut threads. I always have to say my piece because right now I live in fear of it everytime I drive my car (damn <10deg weather!)

Didn't realize it was as big of a problem as it seems to be with you 2g'ers.

FYI you do not need to break in a Turbo.. Just prime the turbo (crank the motor over with the fuel pump power disconnected) the first time it is on the car and rip it up!!!

550s are more than adequate for a 16G@18psi.

See my dyno sheets, note how rich my setup is running, and know that my peak injector open time for that run was 14.1ms.

I'd guess you had another problem; I've heard and seen plenty of evidence to suggest that most people run 16G's with 550s just fine.

I've also seen other people run 550's with 16g just fine...but I couldn't. And the fuel cut problem was fixed by going with 660s (and not touching anything else).

I don't know what other problem I might have had. Do you have any ideas?

I'd have wanted to see your injector on times first, to verify that you were actually maxing them out (I'd assume you were getting close, and with high airflow readings, to have hit fuel cut).

Then the next step would be to look at your fuel pressure, both static and also under boost, as well as checking the flow rate @ static pressure..

Bottom line being that 550's ought to be able to supply enough fuel to match the air that you can push with a 16G; the question being, what was restricting your fuel delivery?
