So we got the talon together finally and took her for her maiden voyage to Joliet tonight (test and tune). Everything was going fine until the way home; the girlfriend and I started to smell gas. We pulled over on a side street and found there was a large fuel leak out the #1 injector. Luckily I had a dsm survival kit and we took the fuel rail off and found the o-ring that goes on top of the injector was worn, bad. We pulled the #2 injector and that o-ring was worn too. The weird thing is that I just replaced all the injector o-rings 75 miles prior. We rigged it up so we could drive home and we made it safely.

I was wondering if anyone has had this type of problem before. I was thinking either the aftermarket o-rings are junk or the fuel rail is junk. Any ideas?

It's always recommended to replace those when getting injectors installed. I however had a situation where I could not wait and I put the old ones back, but the old ones still "seemed" good. It didn't turn into hard plastic and brittle awaiting to crack at the most opportune moment. It's been running well with no leaks.

What I notice always tends to harden up and turn brittle and crack which I personally have been a victim of leakage are the fuel injector insulators. It goes on the bottom of the injector and sits on the head. If its stiff and hard, replace it, you want it soft and limp. ROFL Of course make sure your girlfriend wants the opposite from you. :thumb:

The Orings need to be of a viton material which is fuel resistant, the regular rubber or Buna-N material sold at hardware stores are not rated for fuel, and neither is silicone
