I have some money saved up and was wondering if a 14b on a 2g is really worth it? In the future I really want to maybe put a big 16g on it but right now I dont have that kinda cash! I have searched the site but didn’t find the info I was looking for. Have some basic questions about a 14b on a 2g hope you guys don’t flame me to much because they have been answered a 100 times!

How long might my stock clutch last with the 14b
Should I get the full 2g-install kit or will the tweaker kit work fine!
Will I be ok if I just have a 190 fuel pump and stock injectors or should I get the 255?
Thanks a lot for all the help I really want to know if its worth my $

i think its worth it if you get a good deal on the 14b...I have it and for the money I spent i is worth every penny

-How long might my stock clutch last with the 14b

dunno I have a 2100

-Should I get the full 2g-install kit or will the tweaker kit work fine!

I made my own kit..sorry im not too much help so far.

-Will I be ok if I just have a 190 fuel pump and stock injectors or should I get the 255?

a 190lph is just fine I personally got a 255hp for future mods.

You should see some gains as long as it's a healthy 14b. Remember a 14b is going to make more power in a 1g 6 bolt motor because of the bigger tb, intake manifold, and better flowing head as compared to a 2g 7 bolt motor. I have been running my stock clutch for about a year now with what mods I have in my profile and it's just now starting to show signs of slippage in third gear it's very little slippage but it's there. Hard launching will kill it quickly.

14B-$100
install kit- made for $30
results...
T-25@19psi 199 av whp
14B@14psi 234 av whp plus it keeps on pullin'

definately worth it.

you probably would not expect this from me .... but if you can get a good deal on one
I say go for it ! This was my first turbo upgrade on my 95 GST. It worked great !
Today my 14B is still around running ...
I think it has been on 6 different cars !

i'm using 14b on my 2g. so far im very happy with the result. so far i've run 13.6 @ 99 mph in the 1/4.

you're gonna be happy with either turbo. Just depends on how deep your pocket is.

thats like asking "what will make me more happier? 1 million dollars or 2 million dollars?"

That's a shitty analogy but I think you get my point

I'm going w/ a 14B upgrade for the moment only becuase they are dirt cheap and I can always slap on a 16G next year when I eventually save my money.

if you're looking to get a 16G down the road and are able to get a 14b cheap, i'd say go for it. that way when you're ready to get the 16G, then it'll basically bolt right in (14b installs the same way).

also, I have a 14b set at 15psi, and i'm just using the stock fuel-pump re-wired and stock injectors. unless you're gonna turn up the boost past 15-16psi, the stock fuel system will be fine.

i'm still on the stock clutch, but I rarely push my car hard as it's my only car.....

just get the hacker/tweaker kit, or make your own.

SAVE IT FOR A 16G.

I got a 14b installed in my car, TRUST ME, you will be disappointed. I'm not saying it's not better than the T25, but the results are very minimal.

If I had to do it again, I WOUDN'T

To each their own, some guys are running 12's with the 14b, that's not going to happend with a 2g car.

just my .02

mike

If you pay more than $150 for a 14b than it's not worth it. But when my T25 goes (or if it goes) before I have the cash for a Big t28 then a 14b is going on there in a heart beat simply because I'm not going to get a t25 for as cheep as a 14b and the 14b is better anyway.

.02 and that's all

actually it has. on the Fastest DSM times page there are two 2G's that have run 12's on a 14b.
And more than likely they had a bigger 1g tb, 1g intake manifold, and a 1g head, or ported 2g head, along with some awesome TUNING to achieve those 12 sec time slips. That's probably why there are JUST two of them on that list.

ported 14b
190 pump
you'll be fine man
you'll like it

and like someone else said, you want to go with a 16g later? bolt it right on
