I need some help with identifying exactly what this part is, where it goes, and what purpose it serves. I just finished installing my JM Fab SMIM and ported TB, and I found this laying around the garage. SO I'm a little concerned that I left this off when swapping parts. Any help you all can offer is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

BTW- my car is a 1991 Eagle Talon TSI fwd just to clarify.

looks to be some sort of ground wire, i have a 90 tsi fwd, ive never seen this anywhere on mine, are u positive its off the car? also was this bolted to the intake mani, or was it just loose in your garage ( thinking u took it off when u took the stock manifold off?)

I've never seen anything exactly like that on any of the 1g's I've worked on. The only thing I could think of is the wire from the starter to the battery, but it would be longer than that and it is black. It's not a stock wire from the engine if that's what you want to know.

I'm about 99.9% positive its off of the car. I found it in the garage with some other parts that I had taken off of the stock manifold and throttle body, which is leading me to believe that this may be where it came from. I have no idea for certain though where it might have come from when it was on the car. Also, nothing else gets worked on in my garage other than my car, which makes it being from anywhere else even further less likely.

Maybe someone put it there?

There should be a direct ground wire to the battery negative connected to the firewall, a ground from the firewall to the intake manifold, a ground connected to a bolt on the transmission to the block...
Nothing like that bolts to the throttle body.
Maybe it's the wire running from the battery positive to the alternator fuse in the fuse box? I know that wire isn't very long, but it's white normally.
Like I said, it's not a stock wire.

Hmmmmmmm... this confuses me even more then. I have all of the ground wires that you listed, and the small bracket that grounds the throttle body to the intake mani as well. But this wire I posted above is really racking my brain... especially since it seems that it may not be a stock wire at all.
