I was just wondering how you know when the BOV is adjusted to loose or to tight. I am getting one for christmas and I am going to want to install it. The faq pages showed me how to install it but not how to adjust it correctly. Thanks, Ian

The spring adjustment is all dependent on how you are actually running the valve. If you are venting to the atmosphere you need to make it harder. If you are planning on running it back into the intake, you need to make it softer. You should be able to tell if the valve is leaking when the hood is up. If the valve is opening before full boost, then it is too loose. the same goes for the opposite when you are running back into the intake.

I have the type H, and I couldn't have said that anybetter! :thumb:

yes I vent, so I have my type H set pretty hard. I have a pic of it on my profile page. is that the same one you are getting? the sound that the type H and RFL give off.....i honestly haven't heard anything louder. It doesn't make a acoustic tone like the Greddy type-s, it's just a large gush of air that is unbelievably loud. I don't think it makes a big difference whether it's the H34, H, or RFL. They are all virtually set up the same way. And I love my type H. the only resaon why I'm going to the RFL, is because it's louder. hopes this helped a little.

Now I won't guarantee that you won't have venting problems, as you have probs with ANY bov you decide to vent with. Just luckily for me, I've yet to experience problems. good luck.

Like V8SHME8 said, if it doesn't hold boost, it's too loose and you will need to add more washers. If you are getting compressor surge, you have too many washers in it and you need to take some out until you no longer have any compressor surge. That's the general rule with these BOVs-- run as many washers as you can without surge. I use 4.
