Glen Burnie / Balt,
I have been experiencing Misfire in my 2g lately, I set up a post and it looks as if everyone is saying that it's my Spark Plugs. Now all i need to know is which set of plugs and wires i should get so i can rid my baby of her illness. Thanks

If your in the 17psi+ range get the colder plugs if your going to be running under that stick with the standard NGK's.

Haha that reminds me when I went to go pick up a set of the BPR6ES's not knowing that they are the standard plugs for the 4g63 engine.

After several attempts with the guy at checker auto saying they don't have any BPR6ES's in stock. I said fine just give me the damn stardard plugs then. When he handed them over what do you know they said BPR6ES on the side LOL.

Reminds me of a few weeks ago the guy at Discount Auto Parts warned me not to pull the breather and PCV hoses and run them to a catch can because I'd "blow my engine". He knew this because he had "20 years of experience working on engines." He almost wouldn't sell me the vacuum caps I needed to cap off the nipples on the intake because of that. What a tool. I bet if I'd told him I wanted to run the BPR7's he would've had a coronary right there in the store...

You should get colder plugs unless you're 100% stock. BPR7's gapped at .28 is the way to go.

Save your money, don't run the Iridiums. The NGK BPR6ES is good for up to 16~17pounds of boost, however if you plan on running higher amounts use the BPR7ES for a colder range. You can pick these plugs up for about $1.25/piece. Replace them often too, I replace my plugs ever 6,000 miles. There so cheap, why not.

Well i run around 15 lbs. around the city but sometimes like to turn it up to 17 or 18lbs. when racing.

which would be better? 6s or 7s?
Be on the safe side, go with the 7's. Should be fine. If your car is tuned well you won't have a problem. If they start to foul, go back to the 6's, but I doubt it will happen.

NGKS OR DENSO IRIDIUMS ARE GOOD PLUGS. YOU WILL NEED TO FIND OUT WHAT HEAT RANGE WORKS BEST WITH YOUR APLICATION. MAGNACOR 8.5 WIRES ARE WHAT A LOT OF PEOPLE RUN WHEN YOU INCREASE PROFOMANCE. (I RUN NGK BP8ES AND MAGNACOR 8.5 WIRES.) SO GOOD LUCK.

Not necessarily. From everything I've seen, it's generally recommended to use the stock heat range unless you're running high boost, say more than 17, or using nitrous.

I guess 99% of the dsmers that prefer colder plugs once you raise the boost past stock levels are wrong. For stock or very mildly modified (free mods/exhaust) the the 6's are good. Once you raise the boost you should go on the safe side with colder plugs.

Well, maybe they are. :D

I think we may be saying pretty much the same thing, just differently. Besides, it's not a hard-and-fast rule-- every car is different. Just keep an eye on your plugs, and if they're fouling, go hotter. If they're not, great.
