Well anytime I hit boost (9-15psi) my car would sound like it's getting electrocuted. Sometimes it would happen at 9 psi sometimes at 15. A few times it didn't even happen, and it worked just fine. So I changed my spark plugs with new Ngk bpr7es and my problem was fixed. It worked great. Well I went out for a drive hit 15 psi in 1st,2nd gear no problems. Then the top of 3rd it did it again. I don't think it's fuel cut. The car doesn't slow down any or jump around it just makes a loud zapping noise continously when it happens. What usually causes this? Any ideas why it's happening or why it came back?

Thanks

i have never heard of this happening before, but i would check your alternator. it could be on its way out, possibly causing it to short sometimes. that might explain the sound you hear

possibly your battery shifting forward and making contact with the strut tower???

Well the noise comes from the exhaust guys it's LOUD as in the same or louder then the exhuast itself. It's almost like an alien is shooting at my car with a little green gun or something.

Well I was checking my car out and here is what I found. These are brand new plugs used for maybe 1hr max. and this is what they look like, any hints?

HOLLY "LEAN CONDITIONS" Batman...looks like your car is running lean from the pic of the plugs, are all your plugs this color... i would start by changing fuel filter if it hasnt been changed, then post back

All 4 were like that. I actually just changed my fuel filter... I had my base fuel pressure set at 43-44 when the plugs came out like that. I lowered my fuel pressure to 41 and the car runs without the cutting out as bad instead of happening in 3rd gear it happens in 4th now. Weird...

Does the noise follow RPM's? My car made a snapping sound, like a stun gun, when I would get on it. I found that the plug wires were arcing to the valve cover. Check your plug wires very thoroughly and look for any pinhole white marks. Also try revving the car and moving the wires around at night, so you can see an arc easily. Be very careful of messing with the plug wires while the car is running. Make sure you aren't touching any part of the chassis or the spark could ground through you. Good luck:thumb:

Or you can use a spray bottle with water and mist the wires.....you will see if the wires are arching without having to touch them and getting shocked.

maybe check for boost leaks, just throwing that one out there.

also, what are u using to tune ## car, i see u have a maft but i dont think ## that old school tuning so are u using an afc? ide suggest getting that thing tuned, for spark plugs that have only been in there for about an hour ide richen it up a little bit.

My car never made the snapping noise while I was driving, but when it was at idle I bumped my wires, and got a little shock from it, it wasnt bad, so I replaced them, and no more problems. My guess is that is your problem. Also what" maft set-up" do you gave? 2G GM-MAF? What is your A/F ratio at? It does look like you are running lean, because your plugs are a tan color, it is generally thought that rich= black, carbon deposit, fouled plugs, and lean=tan plugs.

Magnecor wires?

i had magnecor wires, bought them brand new once and my car actaully ran worse then when i had my old ngk's on it.

The only reason I say that is because I read a long time ago about a bulletin that I think MAGNECOR actually put out showing pin holes that caused arching. They said it was because the spark plug wire grommet on the top of the valve cover doesn't seal correctly, causing water to pool in the spark plug well - making conductivity arbitrary and random. I don't know, that's all I could think of.

Hey guys as for now my problem is fixed by simply adjusting my fuel pressure but i have to keep my boost really low. I'm going to keep it that way until I get some more parts safc, along with some gauges and msd wires I'll put the boost up then and see what happens thanks for the replies!
