Alright i need some help guys um... will a 3 inch downpipe ruin your stock turbo berrings. Somoeon told me it would becuase its goin to get the turbo to tover work itself . Im just curious becuase if it does well its time for my new turbo. Bu if not i can wiat a little while longer

LOL, ruin the turbo, opening up the exhuast will releave back pressure on the system it will help more than anything and should allow you to gain a psi or two with ease as well as HP. The person who ever told you this is whack. Go to the tuning guide on here and follow it either stage 1 or stage 2 they are recommending a 2.5 on stage 1 or a full 3" if you are going bigger later.:thumb:

actually it will hurt your turbo. the thermonuclear forces exerted by the shaft spin force speeding up at expediential rates because of higher pre-load forces with rising revolutions causes premature failure on the inner and outer master and slave secondary shaft barrings.

In short, that’s the dumbest thing I have ever heard LOL..

and be alert that at 88 mph there is going to be huge acceleration. LOL

and remeber to check the alignment of those exhaust bearings near the cat after install..if they fall out they're a pain to replace....( damn, those things are always on back order at Pep boys, just like '60 beetle radiators...)

you can run any size downpipe you want... as long as it dosen't interfear with the rotator splint...

alrightn guysthanks for all the help i told those peopl all that u guys said and they insist that it will over work yur Turbo Bearings

I'm sure my experience was just shear coincidence. My car had 106k on it at the time with the stock T25. But, I put my full 3" exhaust on, and made it 2 miles down the road. I had to see if it made a difference on top end or not. But I made it to 140 mph and that was it. But, it had 106k on it, so it was ready to go anytime.

Oh, it definitely blew. There was so much smoke blowin out my exhaust when it happened. I worked at a sod farm at the time, and my buddy was watchin me across the field. He thought that my car had started on fire. There was only about half of the turbine wheels left when I took it apart. But I'm glad it happened though, it meant that I was "forced" to upgrade.

Actually guys, you are forgetting one other condition: boost creep! I know that T-25's drops boost above 6000rpms, but they can creep between 3000 and 4500rpms. If that creep is up to 20psi or more, it can ruin your T25, especially if it is already on its way out.

So while a 3" downpipe by itself will not blow up your turbo, a free flowing exhaust with a lot of creep can!

Alright let me reword my question . That if i keep it at stock boost levels , and Run a inch Down Pipe. Now I know you guys are sayig why do u need a three incher then ?? Well im going to get a T28 but I need to start saving up again I just broke my Tranny 2500 bucks later ... Im Broke. But i have this 3 inch Dp sitting here so i dont know what to do need help guys.

Just make sure your watching the boost creep and just get the DP.

You have to think of your ultimate goal or "the big picture". What do you want with your car? Don't do things twice, it'll cost you MUCH more in the long run. If you have to buy a part and leave it off of the car untill you can get the other part(s) you need, just wait, you may not be able to make that power now but it'll save your wallet.

What do you have for a cat back? It is very difficult and not very effective to mate up 3" DP to a stock system. IMHO, it would not be worth the trouble. Wait until you get the 3" cat back.

But I doubt that you will creep with a stock cat back even if you have 3" down pipe.
