LOL.. bump =)

It al depends dude. Everyone has theyre theory on whats right including me. I personally thing everyone over does the whole cooling thing. i dont usually get hard on it before I park, my TT is always set at 2 mins. It prolly doesnt even need it, if you drive considerably before you park then Im sure just 45sec or so is enough to cool down the oil...

I was told my some reliable sources that actually you don't even really need to TT the car unless you were doing some hard racing. WIth that being said, I still like to TT my car for around 1 minute typically.

My stupid TT is broke right now...everything works but for what I bought it for, keeping the car going and counting down LOL its counts down, but the car just turns off. I think its a blown fuse inside because all other aspects work. (It actually does the counting down part, the car just turns off) I just hate sending it back to HKS for them to tell me it wasn't broke and you owe me $120 to get it back. Sorry to hijack your thread, I've done enough ranting :)

You can say that until you are blue in the face but no one is going to listen to you. Get a good synthetic oil like Amsoil and be done with it.

I don't care if anyone listens to me or not, as I did say I still TT the car for atleast a minute (my timer actually still counts down if I set it to manually calculate how long the car needs to cooldown first. I was just merely making a point from something I heard and I won't mention any names, but he's a pretty good source in my book.

i've got the blitz auto tt with the control panel and a wire to the actual unit. i have the minimun set at 30sec and it calculates the cool time from there based on the ignition. the only thing i'm curious about, is when i'm on the highway for a long time (1+ hrs) the time creeps up to about a min while i'm getting up to speed, but slowly drops down the longer i stay at a speed (ie 75mph). is it wise to let it cool down for as little as 30 sec after so long on the highway? i've been doubting it and letting it go for at least 5 mins. any input would be appreciated.

The question is are you boosting on the highway or just cruising at low rpms with little to no boost? The calculating feature probably takes into account if you are at high enough rpms to be boosting and need more cool down time. If you aren't boosting then the turbo is already cooling off some. You really don't need 5 minutes to cool. 2 minutes should be more than enough, especially for normal daily driving.

so... 30sec isn't going to be enough? do you think i should reset if for at least 1 min?

I've been giving this theory a lot of thought lately. I have two turbocharged cars, a 2001 GTi Turbo K03/K04 Hybrid, and my 95 Talon w/ T25. The GTi has had synthetic and minimum 30Sec cooldowns since birth. The Talon has had synthetic and NO COOLDOWNS (previous owner) since birth, but the car has always been warmed up. The T-25 turbo on the car RIGHT NOW has 161,200 miles on it. It smokes just a hair. I wind up using only 1/4 quart of oil every 3K miles. Want to know what this turbo holds for boost? 16 lbs. Every day. With 20PSI spikes (for about .5 seconds). The thing has very little shaft play (about 1/8th inch). I'm starting to think that a good warm-up, and synthetic changes every 3K might just be enough, but I will continue to cool down anyway. I can't wait for spring so I can put my 14b on....:D

My Big 28 is oil cooled only, and I always let it sit for a minute with the turbo timer. Even when I am driving it hard, usually the last mile is driven normally, so that gives it a head start on cooling off. Its rare that I floor it straight into my driveway.
