Ladysmith,
I'll be getting a JMFAB SMIM and was wondering if any of you guys know which aftermarket TB is best to use. My UICP will be 3" mandrel, and I'll be flowing upwards of 75lbs/min. (SCM-6169e, but that will change next year)

Options are

Accufab 75mm
BBK 75mm
Q45 80-90mm
Power Plus 75mm

Accufab is just like your generic parts store style brand right? I thought I read somewhere that they're arent of the highest quality.

Does any one have any experince with these TB's, prices, etc.

Thanks,

Wayne

Accufab is supposed to have recently upgraded their shafts to slotted ones, due to alot of snapping problems, still would be skeptical buying from them though. (good read on the DVDT website about Albert's experience) Q45's are hideous imo. My vote goes to the Power Plus 75mm.

So why are the Q45's hideous?

I'd give the new Accufabs a shot if they fixed that problem.

You must be talking about the linkage on the Q45 tb. It makes the tb look like a huge complex and cheap part. Unlike the Accufab tb which looks clean, made with high quality machined aluminum.

I'm not so big with the looks, but I like cheap speed, so I got the q45. Lemme see if I can find a good pic.

The power plus is suppose to be good, it has the slotted shaft and there are a few people in the AEM forums having good succuss with them not leaking or snapping. I believe they are only $120 as well for a ploished one and it comes with the Ford IAC sensor.

They only thing that you have to worry about with the Q45's from Ebay is that the sensors might not work. I have heard of people buying 2 or 3 before they find one that works, so that can get kinda of pricey. Not sure how much sensors from Nissan cost.

Does the Q45 T/B bolt to a 1g I/M? Or would I have to make an adapter plate? Does anyone make a plate to buy? Or is it only for aftermarket I/M? Let me know.

I don't understand why you would want to put a 90mm throttle body on a stock intake mani. If you bought an aftermarket mani you would have to let them know that you are using a Q45 thottle body because the flanges are different then the 75mm ones.

The Q45 tb is actually 80mm at the plate, the bore tapers out to 90mm at the inlet. Some call it 80, some call it 90.

I didn't read that the q45 was 90mm. Thats a little big for a stock I/M. Is there a bigger one for a stock I/M.

A bored out stock one would still bolt on but you'd probably have to open up the manifold alittle bit so the butterfly could swing open.

What years of the Q45 came with the big throttle body?

I have the first 66.5mm TB from www.throttlebodys.com and it's awesome. You notice a difference in spool up right away and if you go FIAV block off you will have to mess with the BISS screw to dial in your idle. It works great and is well worth it. :thumb:

Is this a new product? I had a 1g thottle body done by Steve at www.throttlebodys.com and was told by him that the largest he could go was 63.5mm~64mm without cutting into the baffles.

why not just go with a stock 1g n/t throttle body. i beleive it is 65mm all the way through. and you wont have to replace your throttle body gaskets everytime you take the throttle body elbow off sense you can use a coupler there. i am planning on doing this and blocking off the lower half of the throttle body. if you have 2.5" intercooler tubing, then 65mm is perfect for the transition into the intake manifold. while the stock 60mm is a bit smaller then 2.5" intercooling tubing.
just throwing out another option for you.

I like my 75mm Wilson Manifolds Billet TB, I did make a IAC adapter to control the idle and so far works just like it should with no leaks or broken parts:thumb:
