A micron is one millionth of a meter. Too large of a micron rating and it will not filter the fuel properly, to small of a micron and it will restrict fuel flow. My question is what size micron is good to go with for around 500hp or just in general? I am looking to replace my stock fuel filter and lines to 6an. I am looking for a good fuel filter with a 6AN Inlet/Outlet and a good micron rating for 500whp.

Is this one good? http://store.summitracing.com/partd...6ERL&N=4294925239+4294839051+115&autoview=sku

Also what max fuel pressure do I need this filter to be able to support with a walbro 255 hp, PTE 880 injectors, Buschur racing fuel pressure regulator, 6an lines, and 16-22lbs of boost.

Thanks,
-Brian

It is recommended to have a filter capable of filtering down to 10 micron on fuel injection cars. Also make a note of how much pressure the filter can withstand. The one you linked to can withstand 75 psi, which is about 30 psi of boost (43.5 base + 30 psi boost). If you wanted to run more for some reason, you'd need a new filter.

After running all of the AN-06 in my car, I originally went with the same Earl's In-Line AN-06 filter... It was a mistake... The major problem I had with the Earl's filter was that it leaked constantly. -I was never able to get it to seal properly, despite changing out the crush washers several times. The funny thing was that I could never really track down the leak itself, but every time I opened the hood I smelled gas. After further inspection(s), I found that the leak was coming from the filter itself (as it is really just a hollow tube with threaded ends that screw into it. I couldn't get them to seal correctly... It never actually leaked liquid fuel, but I after I touched the filter, I could always smell gas on my hands, despite several attempts to clean/seal it up). Replaced filter and smell is gone.

I ended up with one of the FueLab filters and haven't looked back. -I forget the specs on it, but I have then somewhere... I'll dig em out later... It is a much larger filter when compared to that of the Earl's, but it is actually just a tad bit smaller (OD) then an OE filter... I used some 1/8" sheet rubber to rap around the FueLab filter, and it secured itself nicely in the OE fuel filter mounting bracket for an almost-stock appearance. Here's a link to where I got it:

I found one, it filters down to 10 microns and has a 6AN inlet and outlet. Thanks for all the help. :thumb:

What'd you end up getting?

Where do you plan on finding dirty gas? It's filtered coming out of the cracking tower, it's filtered going into the storage tanks, into the delivery trucks, out of the trucks and again from the station's tanks to the pump and into your tank, which has its own pickup screen on its way to the fuel filter. You'll need much larger than 20 microns to get stuck in an injector- they're constantly being blown out under high pressure with clean gasoline, one of the most effective solvents available.
Find a different fixation.
