Does anybody have anything bad to say about this intercooler kit?

http://www.extremeintercoolers.com/2g_7_kits.htm

I like the 7" core because it allows more air flow to the radiator (I live in Arizona, I autocross, and I might do some type of track event some day). I have an evo III 16G and I don't think I'll go bigger anytime in the near future. I also like that I don't have to cut a hole in the support. It's not THE SHORTEST short route piping, but according to the guy who makes it, it only adds about 11" to the pipe length to go this way versus the AGP/Slowboy route. It also seems like it would flow a little more smoothly through this part of the path as the air will be going though a mandrel bent pipe rather than making a 90* turn at the end tank out the back of the intercooler.

Any opinions appreciated.

Ya I have something bad to say, it costs a hell of alot less then I paid for my FMIC setup...ROFL . But seriously a few guys run that setup here & from what I recall only heard good things. As for that routeing, it will still work great. Sure it may add a couple inches compared to the SBR/Kinetic super short route setup but you don't have to hack a hole in the rad support or worry about swapping/moving the coolent overflow. Plus its still shorter then stock. As for only being a 7" tall core, doubt that will make any difference in flow to your rad. 7 inches tall will fill the whole opening in your front bumper right up to the inner bumper support so it would be no different then if the core goes right up into the inner bumper support. Since you do road race make sure to keep as much of the factory plastic shielding around the rad to help direct the airflow into it. Also a good idea to make a plate that fits between the ic core and rad at the bottom, since youll have to cut out the stock one.

If you want more flow, get the Bar and Plate FMIC, it flows more than the hybrid FMIC and the tube and fin FMIC. The only downside is that the bar and plate FMIC is heavier compared to the hybrid and tube/fin FMIC. The 7" unit is rated at 450hp, but I don't know if that is wheel horse power.

You have an option of getting these from ETS:
1) Bar and plate FMIC
2) Tube and fin FMIC or
3) Hybrid Bar and plate/Tube and fin FMIC.
Obviously the bar and plate will cost more than the hybrid.

Here is some more info on the cores. http://www.extremeintercoolers.com/core_information.htm

I got a big extreme hybrid for my 92 talon but sold the car and the intercooler. This time for my 2g I got the race hybrid kit .It looks top quality ,pipes look great, beaded intercooler looks great. No complaints at all and be installing it shortly. They seem a top notch company, very informative on the phone and helpful.I got my intercooler set up for jm fab intake and gm blow thru. They said if it dont fit perfect with the jm fab then just cut the pipe and measure and they will send me another beaded one free of charge.

I think the hybrid makes good sense..you have flow and efficiency and it looks strong also.Ability to take rock is likely a good thing unless you put ugly screens over the grill opening.

I will be installing my race 10 inch very shortly.

I've run the 10" Kit for the last 3 years now.

Absoluty nothing bad to say about JR or his product, great customer service and great fitment overall, heck you even get to keep the foglights :thumb:

I never planned to go bigger then an Evo 3 but I decided to get the 10" core just incase, glad I did. I've never had any problems with cooling and this IC lets air pass through it so easily I doubt you would either.

You can't go wrong with this Kit.

i have the 7" hybrid kit, and can't complain about it. cooling is phenomenal, and tubes are very strong against rocks. just make sure if you do get it and install it to put it as far back as possible, or the couplers will come up short.

My 1g has the FMIC kit on it and it looks like a really nice setup. Mine is setup for the maft and everything fits perfectly.
