3 inch exhaust and power at spec. RPMS?

I have heard that a dsm is much more responsive to 2.5 inch exhaust and that you will not get big HP gains with 3 in ehaust until 6000 rpms or so. Is this true? Or does 3inch exhaust give you more horsepower over the whole RPM range? I'm lookin to slowly make my car faster and hopefully get it to the mid-high 12's. Should i go straight for 3 inch exhaust or get a 2.5 inch exhaust? thanks for all your help...Matt

Go 3". You won't have to spend the money twice. Yes, you'll have better
low end with the 3", since it will allow for faster spool.
