Hey guys I just got a major loss, my 1g just got rear ended and my insurance company is totaling my car. They are saying the rear body panel damaged. I am going to see if I can get it straightened, if its not straightenedable I want to find a nice shell in this arear. Its one of the cleanest 1g out there. Check my pics out. It has brand new black paint with beige interior. The engine has only 15000 miles on it since the 6 bolt build up.
I am wondering if there are any clean 1g shells out there for sale in the Pittsburgh arear?
Or any notably body shops around here? Ill be posting some pictures of the damage to see if you guys think its fixable.

Wrong area. Might want to try the classifieds. A mod will probably move this into the hangout.

Sorry to hear about your car, sucks when another one is taken off the road :(.

Good luck finding another shell.

do us all a favor, buy the car back from the insurance (like 200-250) keep your motor, trans and 4bolt. If you dont swap it into your new car, you can always sell it and have some money for performance. Sounds like this is already your plan. Im sorry about the car, check out my profile pix and you can see what happened to my 1g gst, red and beautiful and totaled...
And this most likely will get moved to the hangout.

sorry for the loss bro, just learn from it and come bace stronger and faster...

Definately but that car back and rape it for parts. That is super clean too. You could probably buy it back for a couple hundred bucks too.

I may be reading this wrong, but it sounds as though you still have the car, but insurance says its totaled to to the uni-body design of our cars, and you are looking for a shell, check in the classifieds for the shell or salvage yards close to you. If I read it wrong and the insurance Co. has the car then I would say buy it back like the others said.
Sorry for your loss man.

That is one CLEAN 1gb right there. You know what, you should fix it. Its fixable from the description you gave us. I'm sure you can buy a good used rear bumper.

I'm pretty sure you can fix it yourself, minus the paint. It's mostly gunna be parts replacing and maybe a lil straightening. Then just have the rear repainted.

By the way, how much was your paintjob? That looks really nice.

I say you fix it.....you already have a 6 bolt and 4 bolt in there.

Am I looking at it wrong or is the only thing wrong is the rear bumper? I say by a new bumper, and paint it. Is there any frame damage we can't see in the pics or something?

dude in surance companies suck, i know i used to work in a body shop. Thier famous for things like this, a 2 year old car theyyou want to put a used door on, and they want you to find one that is the right color so you don't have to paint it. Thier bitchasses. And now there getting to be where they wont let you buy your car back if it's totaled. I can't believe they totaled that. Does it still drive fine? How much did they total it out at. at the place where i used to work that was probably a $1000 hit. 3 hrs on the frame rack and 5 or so paintiing and ###### $300 in materials. get a new insurance company.

THATS TOTALED!!WTF I dont get insurance companies. I have seen much more damage than that to even the front and the car was "fixable" even when it shouldnt have been. Fix that man. That car is emaculate as you say. Straighten it out a bit and throw a new black rear bumper on and be done with it. As long as its swingin the back end sideways as your driving from being hit, your good.:p

Judging by how far down the bumper is, I'd wager there's a good bit of frame damage that you can't see.

Especially if it killed the gas tank.

eek...replacing the gas tank is going to suck. Isn't it spot welded or riveted to the unibody or something?

Either way, you got 2900 for it correct? and it will cost far less than that to fix it correct? Then you get a super deal. :thumb: fix her up and still have money to spare!

I _hope_ my car gets totalled like that. That's right, if anybody wants to do me a favor, smash my gsx's rear end in, just like that, so I can collect, like snowboard.

edit: you must smash it in with an insured vehicle.

Whats with all the frame talk? These cars are uni-body's

Looks fixable. You are lucky there is no quarter panel damage, otherwise I would say not worth it to try and fix it.
Yeah I know, and as for the quarter panel it is pushed in a little by the looks of the the pics, but it isnt hard to pull them, get a dent puller, and tap softly on the outside of the dent then poof, fixed rear quarter, and now you just need to fix up the hole from the dent puller. The gas tank isnt hard at all to change...long as you have a lift. As for the insurance companies, they will total any car if the costs total 70% or more then what they feel its worth, obviously they dont count sentimental value...bastards:p. But thats a great deal, you got your car back and they gave you 2900$, it will probably cost about 1k-1.5k to fix the body damage, and gas tank...most of that is for labor and painting materials.

EDIT: How fast was this girl going when she rear ended you? I fell asleep at the wheel, and hit the guard rails doing 80mph, and I got 1 dent just after the driver's side door, but before the gas door, need a new front fender 80$, an other door just because it would have been a bi*** to fix 75$, and my alignment got knocked out, thats all, and it gives me an excuse to paint her, so she looks great once more, haha. so I figure it'll be about 1k for everything, or less.
EDIT#2:
No the tank is held up there by 6 or 7 studs. I replaced mine last month, it wasn't too bad. Except for the rusty nuts.....
Just lube them up with penatrating oil, and then shock them, by using a punch or something like that and hitting it with a hammer (loosen's up the rust on the threads of the bolts, should come out like butter, or close to it haha) oh yeah pretty stupid thing to mention, but make sure all of the gas is out of the tank and all the lines are clampedand the new tank is squeaky clean inside.
G'Luck snowboard and Im glad to hear you got the car back from the insurance company.

Hey my cars at a body shop now they said there is very minimal frame damage and its only going to cost around 150 to staighten it :thumb: . I did not get the gas tank in yet. The guy probably rear ended me going like 25 miles per hour and I was stopped.
