Basically I started to take the car apart in december but was stoped because I was in a car accident(broken pelvis). Anyway I have read alot of thread's about removing it but all of them said to run the motor and warm it up. That is not a option I have as I said the car is all apart. Can I use a torch to heat the stud/nut and pb blaster it . I dont want crack the head or block from going dead cold in my none heated garage to torch temp's or is it safe to do this. I dont think the studs will snap as I just had the motor done about 35,000 miles ago so they are still new. So will the torch work or am I risking it?

Thanks
AJ Its 25F in my garage

I would go ahead and spray the PB Blaster real good and let it soak in over night. Then give a try. You may not even need the torch, but a map gas or propane torch should not crack your head, I wouldn't try any oxy/acetylene torch though.

The previous owner of my car used antiseize on the studs and the nuts came off easy. Hopefully you'll have the same kind of luck.

I dont think it would be a problem if you gradually heat the bolts. You may not even need to heat them since you have a relatively new engine. PB blaster a few times before you give it a go and maybe an impact wrench

Took mine off a few weeks ago and it was about -10 celcius and there were no problems.

Did you take it off the cold motor or did you warm it up first.

I have always removed mine on a cold motor. Aluminum gets softer when it heats up and it is more likely that you will strip the threads in the head if it is warm.

Your car is fairly new and shouldnt have a problem

I just swapped mine out with a EVO III and the engine was cold. I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't have a problem with mine at all.

Liquid Wrench/WD-40/PB Blaster and a breaker bar will be your best friends.:thumb:

Thanks for all the post guys i got it off the car already. I barley had to twist the wrench and all the nut's broke loose. Only thing is I droped a nut down the downpipe and it made it's way to the catback so now I have to drop the catback to get the damn thing out ROFL
Oh well thanks again guys.

Same thing happened to me with a nut from the O2 housing to the downpipe. I just did a WOT pull and it shot out the back... I'm too f'in lazy to drop the downpipe even if it only takes a few minutes.
