I have looked over my finances and I've decided that I can spend up to 1000 dollars on a turbo. Which turbos, if any, around that price will get me near 400whp, or a high11/low12 timeslip?

Yah thats the only one I could think of, but wouldn't I need an install kit for a 2G?

Save a litte bit more and get yourself a ball-bearing turbo. and dont put it on your sentra :)

If you get a ball-bearing turbo you'll probably never need bigger one

LoL I won't, its for the soon-to-be GSX in front of my house. Does AGP still make the L1, someone said they stopped production and now only carry the L1R, but my problem with that is the L1R is 1300, I'd rather just get the L1 for 900 and live with the extra lag.

The problem is going to be all the 'extras' are going to put you over $1000 for most turbos in the size you want. We have a L2 'poorboy' we're currently selling for $1000 w/ porting and oil lines included. But the waste gate is going to put you over budget. Our 34mm with adjustable Garrett actuator is $150. This can make 500hp and they get full boost under 4000.

I wasn't including the wastegate in the price. I was speaking about the turbo alone. I know an external wastegate will cost me and extra 3-400 dollars. Kevin do you still sell the L1 or is it discontinued?

We want to rework the L1, we've got some better ideas that we need to test. We'd like to get the L1 dialed in to the point it spools under 3500 and makes 400+hp. Right now the L2 is just such a great turbo, it's hard to beat.

When do you think the L1 will be rereleased? I don't want anything bigger because I heard once you exceed 450whp in a DSM you start breaking drivetrain parts very easily, so thats what I set 400whp as my final goal, for now.

No no no no. You control hp with your boost controller. If you just keep the boost below 24-25psi, you'll be fine. I said the L2 can make 500hp, but that's not to the wheels. The drive train losses bring that to under 450whp.
The L1 is a couple months away.

I agree I think that budget is a little small if you want to include things like fuel and fuel control.

heh, he's already going to stage 2 to a car that he doesn't have yet... but of course anything is possible.... just hope that the GSX ur going to buy already got the minimum supporting mods for a bigger turbo.... was gonna upgrade my turbo too but it prolly run me another $1,000 - $2000 to get the most out of a bigger turbo (FMIC, new Fuel pumps, boost controller, and turbo back).

Get the car first... drive it for a while then decide what upgrade u need before upgrading to a bigger turbo.... the L1 u wanted prolly wont be out till months from now anyways.... by then u'll be ready for a bigger turbo

your profile says you dont even have an Eclipse yet so I hope your not expecting to buy an Eclipse, slap on a large turbo and make tons of power.. there is a science behind going fast and thats far from it.

I know theres more to it than just slapping on a big turbo, Ive been researching DSMs for the past 4 months, been into cars since I was 10 years old, been modifying my friends cars with them for the past year. I'm not some stupid little teenager. I realize I'm going to need a FMIC, boost controller, fuel control, bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, bov, intercooler piping, etc.

Kevin I know what you meant, the problem is I won't be able to keep myself from raising the boost.
