Well yesterday I installed my Walbro 255lph fuel pump on my basically stock 92 talon tsi minus a K&N filter. I am not getting too much fuel or anything. My problem comes when I try to start the car. It is like my fuel system has lost all pressure and I have to let the car sit there and turn over for about 5-10 seconds before it will start. It is like the fuel pump is having to re-prime the whole system. I have not done the re-wire yet but it is ready to do. I just have to find where I want to wire it up or if I want to do it to a toggle switch. Has anyone else had this problem after installing a fuel pump? Thanks for any help.

thats kinda weird, well 10seconds of turning over...hmm and this only started after the 255? imguessing your pump isnt running correctly due to maybe bad wiring or installation. im not saying thats the problem but i just thought id throw it out there

the pump may be bad, i got a 190 a while back and after installation i had similar problems to yours, i took it and put in the stock and it went back to normal.

I hope that the pump isnt bad considering I bought it brand new. But knowing my luck it would be. I haven't checked the fuel line that you have to disconnect in order to get the fuel pump out yet, so maybe that is my problem. Maybe I didnt tighten it back enough. But that is the only problem. Once the car is cranked it runss like a charm. Seems to run smoother than it did before actually. Any more ideas on what it might be?

Quote from VFAQ installation on a 2G AWD:

Be careful when putting the pump up into the fuel feed line - the rubber O-ring should be lubed with some grease, oil, or spit (hey, it works) so that the O-ring slips easily into the feed line. If it does not, the O-ring can kink or tear, and the car will be hard to start after sitting a few minutes, as the kinked/torn O-ring will allow the fuel to bleed out of the feed lines. The symptom will be that the car will take several seconds to start after sitting more than a minute or 2, but starts right up if you turn it off and then immediately start it back up.

Were you careful?

Yeah, that happened to mine the first time I put mine in. It was the rubber O-Ring. Somtimes it just needs to be replaced, or you could have just mashed it in there and it's kinda sitting in there sideways. Take it out again and check. When putting the pump back in, try putting a little bit of oil or somthing on the o ring to make it a bit easier.

The O Ring is what Id suggest.

its not likley you have a leak capable of bleeding off pressure or youd smell it.

It is actually not that uncommon of a problem at all. Upon install it is easy to screw up the fuel pump o-ring or the gasket at the locking cap on top of the fuel pump assembly.

Does anyone have the Mitsu. part number for the o-ring?
Does this help? I know it isn't Mitsu, but if you're just looking for the replacement...
I have found the part # for this O-ring which anyone should be able to find in Autozone or PepBoys autoparts store. The O-ring is made by Borg Warner and the part # is 274571 Fuel injection seal.

im sure if u can just find out its size you can bring it to a auto store and theyll match it easily. or bring in your old one and theyll match it
