do stock mitsubishi pistons have grooves in them for valve clearance my mechanic jumped my cars timing this summer and when i saw the pistons each had an indent from the valves hitting the pistons it didnt appear that there where grooves before the motor jumped timing i know that aftermarket pistons have grooves for clearance ive gotten in an argument with someone who believes that these grooves are there stock is this true i saw pics of the motor and believed that it has jumped its timing hes telling me that the indents are there stock and the motor has never had a problem which one of us is right the motor in question is a 1g 6 bolt motor thanks for the help people

Yes, there are reliefs in the pistons for the valves. Now, depending upon the severity of how bad the car jumped, you may* see visible damage in comparison.
