Whats a good starting point? How much boost should I run with on a T3/T4 hybrid Turbo. Basically what would my minimum be.

Apex Down Pipe NO cat
Apex N1 Exhaust
Injen Intake
Greddy FMIC BIG
Greddy BOV type S
Greddy Intercooler pipes
APEX AFC
APEX Boost Controller

There are about 5,000 T3/T4 hybrid turbos that can be bolted to a DSM, which of these are you running/considering?

Other "pre-turbo mods" to consider:
Fuel pump
AFPR
Injectors

Make sure you read carefully the tuning guide on this site, it's a very valuable resource for planning your mods sequence.

OK. here's the additional info your looking for. Already have a 255lph HP Walbro pump

Turbo Specs:
60-1
63AR
BHousing

The Minimum boost you'd be able to run (per your original question) is soley dependant on what wastegate spring you get.

My spring lets me run as low as 7psi.... I've run as high as 26psi at the track though.

this is my first turbo install and i don't want to f anything up. i guess what i'm asking is where should i start out at...obviously i'll have to monitor my EGT and O2.

You didn’t mention ANY fuel upgrades that is going to determine your boost level to a large extent. I also think your IC isn’t going to work very well and your BOV is going to leak if you ever run big boost.

i'm considering going with 550cc injectors, still need to install my fuel pump 255lph and still need to purchase a fuel regulator.

Ouch, that's going big for a first turbo. I typically like to go from like a T25 to a 16g/20g and then bigger.... so you learn how to tune and get everything in order before getting to a huge turbo.

I am not trying to talk you out of a 60-1 -- just keep in mind your going to have a lot of lag off the line, between shifts and other stuff (unless you use a standalone with Anti Lag)

The turbo your suggesting is bigger then the turbo I run now (T3/To4e 57trim/stage 3 with a .48 housing). Personally I can spin the hell out of first gear and then spin second nicely while at the track -- never did I imagine I'd have traction problems in an AWD. Once I get a few issues fixed that have creeped up, I know the system will be good for 11's -- mid to low 11's based off the fact of how it's running now off a stock motor.

I'm curious as to what your goals are:
Powerwise
ET / MPH Wise

BTW.. if you do go a turbo that big, start saving now for broken parts (transmission/engine). I just replaced my transmission again, unfortunately it took a crap 2 months after putting a new clutch in -- that really pissed me off.

I believe that'd be pushin it for the 550's, go with 660's. and like everyone has said, go with "pre-turbo" mods first (ie, FMIC, fuel, fuel controller/standalone,basics...)

alrighty then...at least it sounds like I'm doing something right. all kidding aside, i was going to go with a Mitsu 16G at first. but then i thought about it...i know i'll end up upgrading again later.

basically here's my theory if your not going to go bigger then go home!!;)

I'm looking to hit 11's on the track and I would like to be around 350 - 400HP again I'm very new to all this and I hope I've been making to right decisions. I've had fun tuning my car on that T-25. actually i was quite shocked how well it ran with my mods. pretty obvious i'm in for some major headaches but i don't mind. sorry to hear about your tranny

I have to agree here big time.... With your HP goals, you aer looking at to big of a turbo.... One of my 60-1 garrett style turbos just made 467 @ the wheels on a stock 1g motor with just cams..... You cannot make this type of HP without having a good knack for tuning or a wide open wallett...

I would think for your modest goals, I would take a hard look at a to4e 50 trim ( 54 mm wheel ) .....

You will also need more than 550 cc injectors on the street! Good call there turbospoolins....

Well its to late now..I'm stuck with it. I can live with 450+ HP. Is this a problem?
