I bought a downpipe that is suppose to eliminate the cat. I also bought a cat that I wanted to place behind this downpipe. I have two options- chopping the dp and locating the cat where it should be (i want to avoid if possible) OR moving the O2 sensor to hook into the new rear-pushed cat. Both the dp and cat are flanged, so its a little easier.

I am wary of doing this without consultation because I'm not sure if adding wiring would effect the reading of the O2 sensor. I was thinking theres two places to add the wire- the harness before the plug or on the sensor itself. The sensor is OEM, non-wideband. Has anyone done this before or on a different car? Will extending the wiring effect reading?

I'm fairly sure that adding wire won't affect the reading. Just make sure you use the same gauge or better, soldering and shrink wrapping the connections. Apparently a lot of current goes through the wires to heat up the sensor, so you'll need to have the same gauge and good connections to make that happen safely.

Another thing you could do is just eliminate the second sensor using this VFAQ. That would also solve your problems.

Does this just skip the CEL or will it pass e-check that way? I am now due for one and they check for a cat too, plus i just bought one so I doubt that I'll be skipping it but... ISH
