I am going to pick up a used 91 block from a friend of mine on Monday. My question is, since it's just the block only would it even be cost worthy to try and build it and get all of the necc. hardware, parts, and what-have-you to get it to work?? Im really short on cash at the moment cuz im at college. Im not it any hurry to build it though. I just want to take my time and buy a little here and there. Do ya'll think it would be a good idea?? BTW, im getting the block for $30 so...y not have an extra one just in case?:p

I also have a question about a 6bolt motor, my buddy has a 6bolt block NT laying around he is willing to give it to me and was wondering are the NT blocks and the turbo blocks the same? thanks alot

I think the turbo block has more cooling and oil gallies.

You can put a '91 block in your '99. But unil you bend a rod, spin a bearing, or get crankwalk I wouldn't see why you would want to.

NT blocks don't have the oil squirters, everything else is the same.

So 1st gen blocks will bolt right to the 2nd gen trannies? I've been staying away cause I figured the bolt pattern changed on the bell housing. Haven't seriously looked into swapping engines yet so this is still a good deal ahead of my current work load.

I've already had crankwalk and the dealer replaced the crank and all the rod bearings, con. bearings. I was just looking for an opinion about building up that motor because I wouldn't want to put all the money into my 99 motor and have it walk ya know? Plus like I said b4, im getting the block for only 30 bucks.
