Heres my problem. I have 97 GST and did a 6 bolt swap and needless to say the machine shop didn't install main bearings properly and lower end is knocking on heavens door. So I have the engine out now and I am trying to determine which would be better to do. #1 Tear apart the 6 bolt and take to a better machine shop or #2 Have the 7 bolt block(that has 140k but was running strong) taken and freshened up with new bearings, rings etc and just do a head swap???? The 1gen head is Stage III and good to go. Also the 6 bolt is stock other than 2 gen pistons pressed onto 1gen big rods and still has balance shafts. I am not looking to achieve more than 400hp because this is my DD but want some respect on the street. I have upgraded to big16G and I am trying to keep this simple. Any suggestions on which option will be best???

Well, since you've already done everything for the 6 bolt swap and you are going to have to most likely get both engines rebuilt either way, I would just stick with the 6 bolt swap. Or, you could stick the 7 bolt in there until it goes bad, and have the 6 bolt lying around waiting to be put in.
