Has anyone ever melted a turbo / mani gasket?

I went to the track last night and my 7cm copper gasket melted. Well it looks like it did anyway. It's hard to explain but imagine you made the gasket out of playdough and made thick enough so that when you tightened down the bolts it would ooze out all around the edges. Well that's what my copper gasket looks like. I hope none of that sh!t when through my turbo:( . My egt temps never passed 1600 all night. Actually they stayed around 1500 except for one run which was my first pass so I know it didn't melt it then. Has this ever happened to anyone else. I don't think I damaged anything because the car runs fine except it's really loud and the turbo doesn't spool as fast( hopefully I didn't kill the exhaust wheel).

Ask yourself this: What is the melting point of copper?

Then ask yourself: What is the Rockwell hardness of copper?

Things that make you go Hmmm.

Well, I've never heard of that happening before, but it sounds like something could've gotten down into your turbo, if it came out around the manifold. Why are you using a copper gasket on the exhaust? I thought they're supposed to be steel?

Nothing Stock, thanks for being an ass. Really, you think you're helping? Holy crap...

BTW, I just looked up the melting points for various kinds of copper mixes and such, and they're all over 1600 degF.

I don't ethier that's what fp sold me with my big 28. I have a steel gasket on the way and I'm keeping my fingers crossed about my turbo. It appears that the gasket was forced out around the edges but that still doesn't mean nothing got in the turbo. I'll find out this week though.
