along with the 14b i am gonna purchase i was wondering (already have a 1st gen throttlebody havent put it on yet though) would i see any performance gains in switching to 1st gen cams on my 2g? and if so what all would i need to install them?

1g turbo cams have somthing like a .01 higer lift direation. they are a small upgrade. you and I have one of the odd 95-96 years where the CAS is under the intake camegear. Honistly. 1g's have a small "T" grind in the cams for the cas to fit in. I'm really unsure how to get those cams to work with the 95-96. Wether it takes modification to the Head, or the cams themselfs, I dont know!

Thats why I oppted to replace my 96 head with a 1g head! To much work for such a small cam! :thumb:

Lift if measured in inches, duration is measured in degrees. Do these cams have a higher lift, or longer duration?

They dont fit.

That's not right at all, the cams are the same for both generations. The only difference is that you need to get the intake cam tapped for your cam angle sensor if you have a 97-99. The 1G CAS fits into a slot that looks like something that you would put a flat-head screw driver in and the 2G's have a screw that actually screws into the hollow area of the cam. The 95 and 96 DSM's have the same CAS that the 1G's do and do not have to be tapped. That is straight off of RRE's site also:

They sell the same cams for 1G and 2G cars, but like it says there, the 97-99's have to be tapped for the CAS.

The only difference and far as performance of the two cams is that the 1G cams are more agressive (longer duration) than the 2G's, but you are not going to notice a huge difference.

OOps my bad, I said they didnt fit. I thought he had a n/t. Guess that happens when youre half asleep at 5 in the morning. :coy:

I thought 1g cams had more lift? They fit right in though ... all you need is new valve cover gaskets and cam seals.

I could be wrong about the duration, I could have sworn that the 1G cams had more duration that the 2G's, but now you have me doubting myself. Anybody know for sure???

damn. theres some mis-info in this thread. well here is the facts:
1g cams will fit in your car.
The 1G cams have .010" higher lift.

Your just lucky no one gave you bad rep or hit the misinformation button you should go back and edit your first post to "They do fit" :thumb:

Don't forget that 90 cams are actually worse than 2G cams. Get 93-94 cams if you can. I've had 3 pairs of cams on my car, stock 2G, 90 1G, and now HKS 264/272 and I will tell you from experience you can tell the difference between 90 cams and 2G cams, they are worse.
