I need some seriuos input for my 1G paxton race pump install. See how the pump is higher than the fuel level , even if i have a 1/3 tank its still to high? i have run it this way to 140 mph....but it was lean a little....can this be the cause? I think the pump pushes fuel and doesnt suck it from the tank.....

I don't see how lowering it would help. As long as there is fuel in the line and it never gets trapped air, it will still suck gas out of the tank (even though it "pushes").

I think it's taken so long to get a reply because, at 140mph in the quarter, you're over the heads of 99.65% of the people on here. :thumb:

If you were having any problems with fuel delivery from the pump you would be poping and spuddering most likely, do yo have any way of monitoring the fuel pressure as you go down the track? If so does it hold rock solid?

Also what injectors are you running? I would think with the sump in the right location as you have and the pump in that location you should be fine, it will suck it out of the tank, other wise you would not be getting any fuel to the rail.

But I would monitor your fuel pressure, that will tell you everything that is going on with the pump. If the pressure falls, then you know what you need to do.

Did you put a baffle of some sort on top of the sump tank? It could be possible that in the course of traveling 140mph down the 1/4, that fuel slosh can get pretty crazy, especially with the various bumps and dips of a track.

Thats what im worried about, "cavatation"....i should put a fuel pressure gauge, but id have to mount it outside. I know it could be put inside, but not easily. Im switching from 880cc to 1000cc before the shootout, then a retune on the haltech..thanks to all that replied.

With a sump G forces should easilly be more than enough to prime the pump even with the uptravel...

I have a 2g AWD and a SX system.. I got mine tucked in a little tighter and lower as compared to the tank... I did'nt even sump.. I just make sure I'm 1/4 tank or more and the fitting at the bottom rear of the tank never causes cavitation since all the fuel at launch wants to be back at the line and pushes against the rear of the tank...
