My question is that will a MAFT TRANSLATOR allow you to tune your car to any degree or is it just a add on that allows you to vent to the atmosphere.... ANY PERFORMANCE GAIN?

From what i see it just translates GM SIGNAL TO WORK WITH DSM AND VICE VERSA.

From what i have read in some places it seems Maft's are only purchased by those who like the nice swooshing sound the bov makes.

My intention was to install Dejon Tool UICP and GM Maft and still run my stock MAF until i felt like shelling out the extra cash. I didnt want to purchase the pipes twice.

thanks! :rocks:

GM SIGNAL TO WORK WITH DSM AND VICE VERSA
I don't think anyone would want to switch to a DSM maf:)

There is some things that you can adjust with it-lo/high throttle, and adjusts for larger injectors. Works similar to a SAFC.

full boost 500 rpm sooner for me. and i had my lm-1 wideband at the time. I was running 9.8:1 with stock psi and stock maf. i put maft on and leaned it out and it helped alot. my butt dyno was happy. it would just claw for the redline for the small mods i had done at the time.

Using the MAFT in blow-thru set-up helps you in many ways. It removes most of any pre-turbo restriction that you might have. It helps spool up times. It allows you to vent your BOV to the atmosphere w/o any negative affects (not really any gain there). And yes, it allows you to tune your air-to-fuel ratio just like an S-AFC. Only difference between the MAFT and S-AFC is that the MAFT (v 2.01) works in 2% increments whereas the AFC works in 1% increments. The GM sensor is a much better flowing unit also larger in inside diameter and it doesn't have those restrictive honey combs.

When I first put in the maf-t and 3" gm maf the butt dyno was about 25hp. For one you get rid of all intake restriction (if you run it as blow thru), two you get 300-500rpm quicker spool, three you can safely make cool bov sounds :D , and four the gm maf is more accurate at higher airflow hz readings. 2g mas is maxed out and will start missing counts around 400 horse, your easily good till 5 with this one.

Well Dejon tool owes u guys a beer because of the advice i have got, i just bought the maft translator and the intake pipe as well as a few other little things.. thanks again and i am sure i will be back

I noticed a jump in Hz on my AFC after installing the 3.5" MAF even with a rigged up stock upper I/C pipe for utilization of the blow through option. Turbo seems to spool a bit faster also. The larger MAF's of course would give a variable performance gain depending on how much you have done to you DSM.
