Rebuilt Tranny From Shep Racing! so i was thinking to on my next upgrades to be the following! what do you think is not needed or what shuld i change on the list?

Thanks

you'd be great for 350 to the crank with some room to grow. but to go 350 to the wheels would push those 550s hard to the edge. you should get an afpr or bigger injectors... remember, going bigger than 550 you start to get high timing issues with safc or maft. if you ditch the coil over system and add the $220 to your safc pot and get dsmlink instead all you would need is to find a 1995 eprom and you're set with an awesome standalone-like system.

...but i know you're trying to get around the traction issues you've probebly been facing :D . I love FWD :coy:

hahah your telling me! right now its just a rough estamate, i am going to try to make my own ic kit! but if all falls i hope to buy a complete kit for less then 500 bucks i dont want to spend more then 500 bills on intercooler! bec i can get same performance out of JR intercooler then somethign like greedy, and almost pay double! BUT DONT WORRY I AM NOT CHEAP WITH MY CAR! I AINT GOING TO GET A OBX FMIC! HAHAH i want something worth the money and with good product feedback and i have heard nothing but good things about jr fmic and they look great black, and for only 50 bucks more! great deal! well thanks fot the help! if its cool can i pm you and ask you a few more questions regarding on what you told me! and yup got to love FWD! hahah i have a rebuilt tranny from shep! but i hope to drpo the tranny one day and add REAL KAAZA LSD, to my car and i am going to be seting up to get rid of that EVIL wheel hop! but thanks for the tips and hints any more help would be great! i want to dyno test my car right now at the setup i have currently and then see how much power i added with the fmic and etc.. and it would be good to get it tuned to! i am in cali so i dont have to many places trustworthy, but i am going to look around and ask well thanksa gain for the help have a good one lates!

I was thinking the same thing with the injectors. I have 550s and have no problem maxing them out if I turn the boost up. I'd recommend at LEAST 660s if not higher and with that Shep Tranny, it sounds like you're hoping to make some frightening power someday. Ditch the AFC for DSMLink or somesuch tuning/datalogging solution. You'll thank yourself for it.
Edit: Prothane mounts get rid of a lot of wheelhop, and they're cheap.

short shifter not worth it. I have it and hate it with passion.
SAFC is perfect for tuning your car. I like it because I can play with the ratios and such. It's easy to work and right at your finger tips. Unlike DSMlink.
If you like vibration, the poly mounts are a good upgrade. You'll have a lot of engine movement with the kind of power you'll be making. I'm waiting for mine to arrive.
Suspension is always overlooked when people start thinking power. I am glad and suprised that you paid attention in "modding" class. :thumb:
I currently run the RC550 and have 298whp on 14lbs and am @ 82-88% duty cylcle. Just depends on the day. I'm okay with them.
And the IC pipe is always a good uprade too.
Sounds like some research was done.

what vibration?its hardly noticable. you'll probably have a hard time knowing they are there from everyday driving. having the balance shaft removed will give you a bit more of a "ride" then some poly mounts.besides with the power being made, you want to eliminate wheel hop, before you start breaking things, which is really annoying.

Yeah, making your own FMIC is smart and cheap and you will save $$hundreds$ over buying the kit...ALso, get DSMLINK instead of SAFC for more accurate and precise tuning, get injectors larger than 550cc's to actually put some use into that new turbo, and definitely F- the short shifter. With the car lowered from the coilovers, you might overpower your shock/strut setup so you might want to loook into some KYB AGX's. For more power, you can always port your mani/02/turbo if you havent already... I'm glad you mentioned you were looking for a HP goal not a 1/4 mile Time goal b/c that saves time from you having to get a LSD right away. So far you have made good choices with your mods, (shep tranny= A+++) keep up the good work and mods, you will have a 350hp car in no time

SafII for $250 shipped. These guys rock. Search for jdm-in-stock user on ebay and check for safcII

I agree with not going with the SAFC on my last car i had the dsm link sold it with the car of course now i have an safc and i can't stand it....it works for what i have now but i am planning on going to a 60-1 as soon as im done with my 6-bolt build.....have to rush it now cause my engine started on fire three days ago fire wasn't bad but it burnt the right stuff to do some serious damage passed some old women on the way into town wasn't even really getting on the gas hard and next thing i knew all my gauges were going nuts and smoke was coming over the hood soooo once i get my new engine in i will be buying a dsm link i was thinking of going with an ems but i only know a few guys tuning with them and i dont' know if i trust there ability to help me sooo i will prolly be going with dsm link

an afc is better than throwing up 600$ for dsmlink. they both have there pros and cons. the suspension is going to ride very well with coilovers. sounds like a good setup!

Other than price, what pros does afc have that dsmlink does not?

EDIT: i don't want to come across like a jerk. I just want to understand your reasoning.

safc is not perfect. you can't lean out with out adding timing.

my finger tips are better suited for a laptop than knobs and whatnot. They like controling timing and fuel and verious other lovely things like no-lift-to-shift. AND they are better suited for holding on to the steering wheel because i have a more optimum tune :D

I'm not flaming. i just have to point out that dsmlink is easier to adjust and control what's going on than safc. It's like a standalone with no down time no closed loop guesswork: just get in, lean out, adjust your timing, raise your boost and run. go to dsmlink.com. safc IS worth $200. and DSMLink worth more than $600. You can't say well i'll get safc and spend the other $400 on this or that. IMHO :D

i bet your head is spining with all these different views on the setup of your car. LOL but here is my opinion.
since you are fwd you will have trouble with traction. especially with the 16g you have on your car rite now.
invest the time end effort into replacing all your bushings with the energy kit. not just the motor mounts. tokico illuminas and the eibach prokit are an awsome setup.
with 91 octane i would lean towards denso 660's. safc is a nice choice although the dsmlink system is ALOT more accurate in tuning. a fmic is mainly up to you and your budget. make sure you get a good core and if you make your own ic pipes make sure they are manderal bent. ROCK ON! :rocks:

Switch afc2 for dsmlink. Forget about the skunk 2 coilovers they are crap, just get upgraded spring/shock combo or if you want to spend more money get a "real" coilover set up like D2. Like someone already said leave the stock shifter because the shorty shifters are not that great. If you get dsmlink upgrade the injectors for 680's or maybe even 720's because with the link it will not matter how big the injectors are it will still idle like stock. Have you thought about putting together a methanol kit? Its a great mod so you can run high boost on pumpgas and methanol is much cheaper than racegas and makin your own kit will cost you at most $180.

hey, i know atleast someone said this but don't buy the short shifter i've had to have my tranny rebuilt because of that stupid thing it wasn't even that good i must say don't buy it save your money and then for the skunk 2 coil over they are nice but the ride is horible i agree with the guy that says to get the d2 my friend bought it and its insane how nice of a setup it is just my .02

Just want to start of by saying thanks! thanks for all your input means alot! thats why DSMTuners is the best! of the best! hahaah well enough kissing azz! alrite so from what i was reading it seems to me that i might kick SAFC and go with the dsmlink! since ppl are saying its easier to manage and more accurate even though i did like the AFC so my list is as follows! and i am going to kick the skunk2 and get D2 System, and ditch the short shifter, also i am upgrading the injectors to 680's, and i am also going to add a electronic boost controller? alrite this is my new list any ideas or changes before i purchase everything i am going to get everything by august 5th well thanks for your input again and good luck with your cars! i am going to be installing all this parts is there anything that i should be more cautious with? i am thinking the dsm link tuning it and keeping it tuned for street and race track runs?thanks again!

1. Johnny Race Car : 8" Black Anodized Intercooler with 2.25" ODsides $265.00
2. Intercooler Piping Kit: $200.00
3. DSMLink and Palm Pilot: $650.00
4. Prothane 2G DSM 4G63 Motor Mounts: $85.00
5. RC Engineering 680cc/min Fuel Injectors: $290.00
6. D2 Coil System: $400.00 ??? not sure
7. Elec. Boost Controller: $300.00

Don't forget to add another $200 - $300 in there for the EPROM ECU you need to run DSMLink. And the cost of the socketing service. :thumb:

EDIT> If you do go with DSMLink you might want to look into getting 950cc injectors. DSMLink has the ability to run the biggest injectors you can throw at it like they are stock. So, I say, go as big as you can...that way you know you are only going to upgrade once.

Thanks fot the info forgot about that! where can i get that work done and how much do you think it will run for? the work and labor? and i might go with the bigger injectors weill my car run to rich or am i going to control the amount the fuel injectors work! well thanks again for the help talk to you fellas later! done with class today!
