I just had my engine rebuilt with a Garrett 50 trim T3/T4 turbo & headers.
I’ve got a stock fuel system, so I was going to keep my boost at stock levels until I could afford larger injectors/management.
It’s runs great, but when I try to boost past 6psi I get fuel cut.

I get no error codes.

Does anyone know what could be causing the fuel cut?
Please help me out. Keeping this turbo under stock boost is killing me!

I would try a boost leak test, you most likely have a leak somewhere in the intact tract and that is what is causing the fuel cut, are you still on the stock smic? Hope this helps BW

i dont think it would be a good idea to boost at the stock level with a 50trim....you are flowing much more air than the stock turbo, perhaps even more just at 6psi than the stock turbo at 12ish?.....turning up the boost without an upgraded fuel system can be bad news....anyone correct me if im wrong on this

Do you think maybe the ECU is sensing that much air that it would tell the injectors to cut fuel?

Ok listen. Your running a relatively large turbo on a stock fuel system. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if 6 psi on your new turbo is out flowing the old t-2 small. I know you want to go faster but think of it this way. Do i wanna rip alittle extra now then rebuild my motor again or rip alot more later and keep my motor for awhile longer. The wait for your fuel system will be well worth it. If you want to try to squeeze alittle more fuel out of your stock system rewire the fuel pump. Maybe you can get another 1-2 psi relatively safely. But i hope you have something to be monitoring this with.

I ran a 50 trim on a side mount with 650's for a while I had 550's but when I got the 50 had to go bigger. I think you are way beyond you stock fuel system.

At only 6psi I doubt your flowing that much air.

Are you absolutly positive you don't have any boost leaks? this is the #1 cause of early fuel cut...

Its much easier wtih a compressor with a REGULATOR you must have one or a way to bring the psi down somehow. Go to where ever sells plumbing stuff here its canadian tire. Get a reducer from say 3" down to 2.5" or whatever the inlet for your turbo is in my case its 3" so I look for a 4" to 3" rubber reducer. Then I get a cap with a lid and insert that in to the 4" end. I then drill and thread right into the plastic with teflon tape a small airhose from the compressor section. Then all you do is pull you rintake off slide the home made tester on and hook up some air and look for leaks. Usually you can hear them really easy if they are big leaks. 15 PSI of air pressure is plently for testing.
