I just installed my DIS-2 in my 1990 talon tsi awd and was wondering if anyone could help me with the dip switches? I lost the booklet that came with the unit and am not sure what each one is for. Is there a certain way these should be set up or is a tuning thing? Regardless, I need to set them so any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Thanks Chris

I also forgot to mention that when I plug in the bypass plug, the car will not even start. Does anyone know what might be wrong? Thanks again!

My car is a 90, therefore it is different. The install is on Mach V's website. I double checked everything several times trying to get the bypass plug to work and still no luck. Is it possible, somehow, that the bypass plug is bad? I know there isn't much to it, but I don't know where else the problem could be.

Thanks for the dip switch info!!

Chris

the bypass plus is just wires, infact you can see them loop from one pin on top to the same pin on the bottom, use a multimeter and check it, should be close to 0 ohms. Doubt its bad the Deutsch connectors are REALLY good connectors. I used a few others from MSD in my car to help me pull certian stuff when working on the car. As long as they are made correctly they work.

I have a 90 with an MSD DIS-2 as well. I also used the Mach V install instructions. The bypass plug will not work with the tach adapter connected. Remove the tach adapter from the quick splices in the MSD harness, put in the bypass plug, and the car should start right up. Spoolup is correct. The bypass plug is just a bunch of wire loops, which connects the splices you made in your ignition. It is just a check to make sure you wired everything correctly, but the tach adapter changes alters the signal somewhere, so it must be removed to use the bypass plug. Since your car starts fine without the bypass plug, I wouldn't even worry about it. I never did.

Hey guys, I really appreciate your help. I realized I still had the tach adapter plugged in and that was why the bypass plug wasn't working. I'll check the unit to see if the diagram is still on there.

Thanks again!

I dont remeber seeing the switches on the bottom, bought mine new and there was a black and white sticker that came with it. I mounted the DIS2 in the golve box and on the little lip on the inside mounted the sticker so when I open the glove box I can see what Im doing.

Did you buy yours used and the previous owner stuck the sticker on the bottom? Just curious. But mine is out of the car since im gutting the underside of the dash and still dont see the switch positions on the bottom. What good what it do to have them there anyways?

Sorry about teh tach adapter forgot about that haveing to be bypassed or whatever you want to call it to the harness. I should have remembered that man, sorry.
