boost gauge not working

Hey guys - just installed a autometer boost guage on my friends car and just for the time being plugged the tubing into the p port on the tbody - now this worked on my car and my other friends car but for some reason its not working properly on this car. . . . its a 92 tsi awd - it doesnt show any vacuum but when you slam on it it shows boost but not the right ammount - says hes at 15 and hes not - everything is stock

You usually tap 1G's off the fuel pressure solenoid. One line leads from the intake manifold and the other runs to the fuel pressure regulator. Both lines have little plastic couplers in them right by the solenoid. Pull the coupler out of the line from the manifold and put a tee in it's place. Run the boost gauge hose to the tee.
Stock 1G's run about 11psi and lower on the autos. Tell your friend the stock boost gauge in the dash is full of it. It's not really a boost gauge, the ECU drives it based on other sensors input.

I had a problem with my autometer boost gauge
when it's cold, it won't show vacuum, and will "stick" in the boost sometimes. This was partially due to a faulty gauge, and partially due to the crap-tastic plastic tubing they supply with the gauge that is easily crushed or pinched when bent. Do your friend a favor, and pick up some better tubing, and some fittings for either end.
