How do you get the comp housing off of a t-25

It's actually a big 28 but it's the same thing so it doesn't matter. I know how to get it off the problem is getting the big snap ring that holds it on off. Any one got any tips. I can't find a big pair of snap ring pliers to get it off. Can it be taken off with your average pair off snap ring pliers? I don't want to buy them if I can't use them.

Snap ring (Criclip) pliers will work.
