Is it ok to run leaded gas

Well it tends to foul out the o2 sensor but other than that its fine. I either put it my old o2 when I race, or when Im done a go home and torch the o2 for a few seconds at a time and try to burn off all the lead. ususally running a few gallons one or twice a month is fine, its worked for me

do not use leaded gas if you have a catalytic. it will clog with lead and eventually collapse. spool up time will go out the window and eventually power will too. and by eventually i mean after about 5 gallons. that white coating on your muffler after you use it? imagine all of that plus some sitting in your cats mesh.

There is a simple solution to this: Eliminate the Cat.

As far as O2 sensors, I've run C16 at the track 3 years on the same O2 sensor. The race gas seems to "deaden" the sensor, but after I get home and put 93 back in it, it comes back to life within 10-15 miles.

Exactly. 90gsx is the one who convinced me the first time I went to the track, and eerytime Ive been since Ive been on the same o2 sensor. I was worried, but it acteds just as described. It was just sluggsh with the c16 in, then once I used normal fuel it came back to life perfectly and every time since then:dsm:

They shouldn't be faulty.. unless they were already on their way out. You just gotta wait for the white (lead) coating to burn back off & it'll react just like normal.

Larryd what is the octane rating of C16, also who makes or sells it? I have been currently running the Sunoco 110 leaded race gas for awhile now and everything seems to be fine so far.

my o2s was faulty after i ran with leaded, but it was jsut because the o2s was on its way out. i'm sure if i was to use leaded with my new o2s and then run regular afterwards, it would kick back to life. but i haven't tried it myself yet, and i don't believe anything till i see it happen on my car...but thats just me

As long as you have aTP you're good to go..Just be sure to put 1k miles on it if it's a new one. Besides O2 sensors are only like $50 something, who cares if you have to replace them every year or so.

You'll know if you O2 sensor is wacked up. Just check out your front O2 volts on the dsmlink. If its not properly cycling up and down, that that woudl be a good indicator. I doubt after 2 times yours is hosed though.

C16 is 117 octane.. & formulated for turbo applications. You can get it from any VP dealer. You'll have to contact your local dealer... you can get you regional # off of http://www.vpracingfuels.com/vp_12_contact.html?mgiToken=D031D80227BC3BE85E & contact them... & they'll put you in contact w/ your local dealer. We normally buy it by the barrell to save a little $. I've seen it sell for $6-8 per gallon.
Great info! Thanks Ken. I'm currently paying right at $3.95 a gal. for Sunoco 110 leaded race gas here where I live in western NC.
