HRC SMIC w/T04b?

Ok, I'll probably get flamed for wanting to use a SMIC with a turbo like this, but I really don't feel like spending close to a grand for a FMIC and having to hack my bumper to bits. Anyway the question is: Can I run a HRC SMIC with a Bullseye T04B? What boost could I (theoretically) run with this setup? This is also assuming proper fuel mods and tuning?

If you plan on using a smic with that turbo I would suggest using a water injection setup. Check out Aquamist and SnowPerformance. That should allow you to run boost into the mid 20's with that turbo. Just place one nozzle before the intercooler and one before the throttle body and you should be fine. Just tune carefully.

I may well look into that. I'm not totally clear on how exactly water injection works. Is it activated all the time, or just under high load?

Check those sites out for more info. Every system works a bit differently.

Some run only during high boost, some have temp sensors, others have their own programmable maps.

Well, after reading the 5-page WI thread, I'm sold. Sounds perfect for me, and MUUCH cheaper than a big-ass FMIC. So, as soon as I can get the money for all the fuel mods I now need, WI is gonna be mine. One other question if you guys can help. Does anyone know anything about the HKS AFR? I was intrigued by the VPC, but it seems they are no longer made. I'm looking for a tuning platform that isn't really expensive (eg DSMLink), and fairly straightforward to install (unlike SAFC).

You are better off sticking with the SAFC. I have not heard too many good things about the HKS unit. They SAFC gives you more tuning options.
