Okay i am building my 4th motor for my dsm. The last one i had a Mitsu timing belt on and it came apart after only 7k. It was 9 months old. So now after digging my valves out of my je pistons i am reluctant to go back to another mitsu timing belt. I am thinking about a greddy belt but i don't know. What do you guys reccomend to beef up the factory belt.

And before you try and blame the belt snapping on the pullies or tensioner know that i have the factory service manual and i am a toyota tech so i know how to check for these problems. It just came apart.

Thanks,
Poor :talon:

Considering that hundreds of thousands cars use the OEM belt with Zero problems, I would venture to say that either the belt tension was incorrect or something else like a tensioner failed.

I would investigate why your belt failed. Its highly doubtful that it was a problem with the belt its self.

Other then that some people seem to like those blue kevlar belts... dont remeber who makes them.

thanks for the input.

I would have checked the belt tension would it have been in one peice. It was a monumental death ( i know i can't spell) so i just don't want a repeat occourance.

Is anyone having problems running the kevlars??

Thanks again
