hey what up i have a 94 eagle talon tsi awd i took off my throttle body today to clean the inside of it. when i took it off i looked inside the intake manifold and there was sludge all over the indide a stuck my finger in there took some of the sludge out on my finger and it was black with a green tint like coolant so i cleaned the whole inside out wit carb and choke cleaner but my question is how did coolant get in my intake manifold wat is broken that could have caused this somebody help me out please thanks

I would do a compression test first to see if it’s your head gasket is good. I think it would be pretty hard for the coolant to get squeezed/sprayed all the way back up your intake mani.

I bet your FIAV in your throttle body is leaking. It has coolant running through it to get a high idle on a cold start. You can block it off, but then you will not get a warm up idle, and might have to give extra gas until your car warms up.

I agree with you.. There is no way that a leak in the HG can alow coolent at the throttle body.

ok thank you but one more question i know its a stupid question but what is fiav dont make fun of me for asking what it is either

It could have been spilled since the top hose is just above several fittings.

How was the hose before the throttle body? Did you check for oil and green stuff there. A paper towel will wick up droplets of coolant.

If you do have a lot of oil then blowby, PCV valve, intake turbo seal are things to inspect. If you do find oil and coolant then maybe an inspection of the IC is needed to see if there is coolant and oil sludge inside.

Do the easy things first including the compression check and get back to us with results.

Cheers,
GTM

no there was nothing in the uicp it was dry the sludge was only in the intake manifold. the intercooler is fine i just took that out to get all the rocks and fix the dents and the turbo seals are fine and all the gaskets are new except for the valve cover and all the coolant hoses are fine too i havent done a compression check yet but i will in the next 2 days or so and ill bet back to you guys with the results
