I just installed my bov today and my car runs great but the only question i have is...when i shift it sounds like a thump then the whistle...it's not like my car is hesitating its just coming from the bov. I wanted to know if this is normal b/c everything else seems right except that little noise before the whistle sound. (yes it is vented)
And my last question is : my hose is too big for the inlet nipple on the bov and hks didn't include any smaller hose to connect the adapter to. Anyone else find this a problem?

i just got a reduction connector from pep boys and bought some smaller hose. costs like $4 total

as for the thump....was your BOV made for a DSM? or for another car.....maybe the adjustment screw isnt set right. did you check for leaks? maybe something is getting hit by the air causing a thump?

i checked myine, i only hear a lil thump sound ...thats the valve opening.

Yea it's not a big thump just a small thump and you are probably right about it being the valve opening...I just wanted to make sure everything was right. And yea I got the kit for my car. Only problems I had were the tubing and the position of the bov. I had to face it towards my turbo for the hood to close right.

Another question...I plan on gettin the Recir. kit but is it really neccesary (sp?) to get the 45$ kit or just the metal piece for 15$? will the stock rubber hose clamp up to it nicely and fit nicely?
Thanks and sorry for asking so many questions

hmm.. what IC pipes are you using to connect your hks ssqv? or are you using stock ic pipes with flange to connect to stock pipe?

anyways.. id ont know about that thump sound.. how much are you boosting? at lower boost the hks will sound like a flutter.. at higher boost its more of a wistle sound.. cant really say much on why your getting that sound other than that..

and about that adjustment screw.. some people say it makes a difference.. others say it dont.. so i dont know..

and the hose.. i still use the stock hose that connected to the stock bov.. i have a small clamp and its very very tightly clamped on the hks bov inlet so its no problem.. its no problem at all.

and no you dont have to get that overpriced kit.. you can do this..

Thanks for the help everyone. I'm probably going to get the Recir. kit just cause the bov is too loud vented. As much as i like the attention and the great sound of it, I don't want to find myself paying for a ticket I could have prevented.

I just took my out for a run w/ the new hose and the idle rpm's seem to drop a lot when im not giving it gas....almost to the point where it's going to shut off but the CEL and other lights don't come on like they did a while ago....Anyone agree that i should get the recirc. kit??????

98SilverGS-T check your PM.

yea from what you told me, your car doesnt like to be vented, thus the reason your rpms are dropping to a point to where it will stall.. re-circulating should solve that.

if your at a point of stalling when decelerating with your aftermarket bov, your running too rich because our oem cpu can't read the air loss and over compensates for it....get a hks afr. and your str8
