is it ok to hook the gm maf directly onto the throttlebody elbow, i ask this because i already have a hard UICP and was thinking of hacking a section off of the end and using a couple of couplers to fit it onto the trottle body elbow and the cut portion of the pipe

I've heard it would be inaccurate if it gets too close...i think 10-12 inches away from the throttle body is best.

I don't think it can be done I think the GM maf need some tubing in between it and the throttle body.

I run my MAF right off of the throttle body elbow.

Dejon and SBR MAF piping kits have the sensor right off of the throttle body elbow as well...http://www.dejontool.com/DSM-2g%20SIC.htm

It can be done, has been done, and is done by virtually everyone I know that runs one unless they are running it right after the intake filter.

ive seen those before, the ones from dejon, it seems like its a little farther away from the TB then the standard TB elbow (2g) so im still kind of stuck here i want to throw this thing on tomorrow but i am really tight on the funds and cant blow 100 on a pipe right now

I run mine RIGHT off the TB elbow, I cut my greddy ucip to accomadate it. I have ran mine for several weeks and it works BEAUTIFULLY. There is like MAYBE a 1-2 in. diff between the dejon/sbr elbow and stock one. That little of a pipe lenght difference is not going to be an issue. Cut the ucip and get that bad boy on there!!! FEEL THE POWER WHEN YOU GET IT TUNED :thumb:

The main concern, is that there is a few inches of "straight" run pipe right before the MAF.

To me it makes more sence to have the MAS on the final pipe leading into the manifold...because the MAS now reads actuall intake temps...instead of right when it enters.....I still wanna know how it works when people have draw threw with stock intercooler then upgrade to a FMIC...How does the comp know that it has cooler intake charges now....Im guessing it reads it from 02 voltages on the way out then adjust fuel for it after a while. But ya blow threw rules...specally if you have a data logger or something that reads MAS intake temps...you can see what ur engine is breathing and changes in intake temps if you add a FMIC or ram air

as far as intake temps and air flow rate (Hz) what does the maft "fool" the ecu into thinking i.e. the safc fools the computer with more or less air flow

the Maf-T sends a fixed barometric and temperature signal to the ECU.. they're unchanging, only the airflow changes...

I have a stock IC now, with plenty of DSMLink logs showing my MAF-T readings. Soon, I will have a PWR liquid barrel intercooler on, so I will do comparable logs.
If you want I can PM them, or e-mail them to you..

Has anybody just cut their upper i/c halfway between the throttle body and bov and connected the gm maf between there and had trouble with them popping off under high boost 20+ psi. Because if I just cut it there and attach it with couplings, there wont be that beveled lip on each end of the pipe and i just wanted to know if it will pop off under high boost.

mine isn't beaded on that part and i have run 32psi with no problems
