I know it's a common problem for the car to throw a misfire code with a 6 bolt swap. How ofter does this happen to most people? I have this happen all the time and it's code P0300. Does the potentiometer mod fix the misfire altogether or just keep the ecu from throwing the code? I know I'll always have a check engine light anyways because of my unhooked emissions shit so if all its going to do is keep the light off then that won't help me. If it doesn't check for a misfire it would stay out of limp mode though so it wouldn't even be noticeable correct? I'd appreciate some more info on this by someone that's actually done the mod and not someone that just knows about it. Also, I do NOT have dsmlink so I can't just use that to stop this problem.

I have a 95 with a 6 bolt swap. I was getting the same thing. what happens is when the ecu starts looking for the miss it gets the cam sensor signal mixed up because it is looking for both cam and crank sensor signals and the ecu causes the miss. I put the potentiometer in my car and it fixed the miss and the light. I takes some trial and error to find the exact setting. It is a quick mod to fix the problem. :thumb: How ever when you do this mod it will lean the car out some. so you will have to adjust for this

the fuel adjustment won't be a problem. Thanks for the quick response. What potentiometer did you use ( 10k ? ) and were did you have to set the adjustment knob? ( just ballpark setting ) What happens if you turn it too far? I'm going to run to radio shack in a few and pick one up and do this mod tonight. :thumb:

I used a 10k pot. It was set close to 7-8k. I would have to measure it. every car is different though so my setting may not work for your car. It you turn it too far the car will run rough and die. I started in the low setting. when I turned it up it started to go lean and miss, went a little more it smothed out and hasn' t missed since. You will have to adjust it then drive, adjust then drive untill the code no longer sets. It took a few tries. Make sure you car is warmed up and drive at cruising speed. that is when the code will set. Good luck. any outher questions let me know.

how much fuel did you have to end up adding with whatever tuning method you are using? I'm in the middle of doing this mod as well but just can't get my trims right now.

Edit: I'm using a translator and dsmchips ecu chip with injector comp for tuning and the more I turn the potentiometer the more significantly lean my car gets. Well the problem is with my injector comp I basically tune the translator for stock 450s. The lowest injector size it lets you select is 430s which I ended up doing to richen the base. Well with the idle, mid, and wot controls I can get those things within the tuning limits while turning the potentiometer, but the problem is I also need to richen my base so I'm not running lean when I'm just at a steady cruise. How would I go about getting the translator to recognize injectors smaller than 430s? Can I set the dials for say 380 injectors using the 3S chart that came with this thing since it works on both cars? I didn't want to try that without someone saying it will work, but if that's possible then that will take care of my problems.
