3" or 2.5" for AGPT28

The AGP will be my future turbo and im aquiring all the supportings mods now. Im to the exhaust part and cant decide what I want to do. I have been doing alot of looking, I really want to try and get a used catback and then o2 dump and DP but I cant decided on what size. I probably will not upgrade past the AGPt28 turbo. what hould I get and what brand. I really want a thermal but I dont want to pay retail for a new catback and they are really hard to find used. My other choice is a used 2.5" greddy SP, how is that exhaust? or a ATR cat back and then finally have a local shop build me a custom turbo back exhaust 3" or 2.5" for about 600-700
I dont know what to do:confused:
 
2.5 would be fine, but 3" will give you the possiblity for further mods if you want them in the future. And with the current setup of the T28 you would gain a few hp's from 3" over the 2.5". Spend the few extra dollars and get 3".

BTW, check out www.rnrracing.com $600 for a 3" turbo back o2 housing eliminator exhaust (bolts right to the turbo and goes all the way back includes test pipe).
 
Any catback other than 3" on a DSM is pointless. A 2.5" dp is OK but the rest needs to be 3". I like the Apexi cat backs on the 2g's, they are full flow and not too loud.

i just had the exhaust cut the pipeing from the cat and go 2 3/4 to my apex muffler and i have a 2 1/2 down pipe sounds great. i payed 195.00 for the apex turbo N-1 muffler and 150 for the new pipeing and slaping the muffler on there. So 350.00 + 150.00 for the down pipe so about 500 when i was all done. Not bad and with the 2 3/4 no resonators to get in the way =)

Test pipe on the way......stop that bottle necking =)

its not SS will it rust??????????:confused:
 
I currently run a RRE ported O2 housing, Buschur 2.5" dp, 2.5" test-pipe, and a 3" Thermal exhaust with my Big28, and it works great. 2.5" exhaust set ups have gone low 12's to high 11's on numerous occasions.
 
You could coat it with that tough rhino liner spray on stuff that wouldn't chip off and would keep it from rusting from the outside anyway
 
Paint it with some high temp spray paint. The key to painting things that get hot is preping the surface. Get some laquer(sp?) thinner or some alcohol and clean it real good before you paint it. Once you clean it use rubber gloves when you touch it because the oil in your hands will cause the paint to peel when it grts hot. most of the exhaust does get that hot just focus on everything before the cat. Put a couple of coats on but don't lay them on heavy keep them light. After the cat it shouldn't be as important on how many coats and what not because it doesn't get that hot.
 
I went to a local shop today and had them quote me a price for a complete turboback exhaust. this is what I have chosen

3" down pipe with flex section
3" cat back
No cat
resinator
muffler (magnaflow)
mandrel bent
from the o2 housing to the muffler is 3" inside aluminized steel

all this and labor 550 no tax
 
sounds good but you should go with the apex Turbo N-1 muffler just my 0.02 =)
i got 2 3/4 from the cat to the muffler and them welding it all togeather and slaping the n-1 muffler on there with the hangers and no resonators for 150.00 damm good price if you ask me =) and this shop is top of the line they been in mags.
