I just installed my front mount and on the j-pipe where the vacuum line from the boost controller goes there is no nipple there to plug into to send the signal to the boost controller and then the wastegate. On the stock intercooler lower intercooling piping this is where it used to be plugged in. So right now there is no control on the boost and I haven't been able to test out my front mount. I am wondering if I could hook this vacuum line to the vacuum line on the top of the blow off valve or should I get the nipple cut off and then rewelded on the j-pipe. In the manual it says it has to be installed on the pressurized side of the turbo. Please help. Thanks

Please need help. Someone has to know something. Please

hardly anyone here uses the AVCR. i really haven't seen any good DSM specific AVCR install pages. i'm going to be installing mine on my 90 GSX next week. the avcr actually monitors boost too so it's a little more complicated than just a profec b.

Had the same question when I got the DEJON Lower ICP. People told me to tee it off the BOV connection. Not understanding the reason behind the connection at the J pipe in the first place, I just reused the restrictive stock J pipe. However, it was not as tight (air leak-wise) a connection with the DEJON lowe IC pipe.

So a few weeks ago, I bought a "T" and did as the others recommended. Now boost is good. :) I am reading the chapter on boost control in Maximum Boost to try to understand the concept a little better before I connect my AVC-D. Does anyone have this and can explain the purpose of scramble boost setting and how to set it up on the back?

Thanks.

Yes, you can tee into BOV, or you can just run one to the waste gate anf one to the turbo. either way, so its reading vacum. It will read it more acurately off the turbo I would think.

-I believe getting the signal from the J pipe is more accurate then from the BOV, b/c the IC has altered the temperature as air pass throught it, you can get a brass hose barb an JB weld it on to the J pipe.

According to what I read last night, there are three viable places to tap the line.

J pipe (ie compressor housing location) best prevents against excess heat since the wastegate gets the signal as much as fast as possible. However this also means that the wastegate starts bleeding off pressure at the earliest time possible (even before set boost level is reached)

Intake manifold plenum runs the risk of building up excess heat the most since the wategate does not tell open up until the pressure is already near the combustion chambers.

The area that is descibed above (T off the BOV and after the IC) is a good compromise since it falls in between the two extremes. So you get fair protection against excess heat and the wastegate does not open up too early and you can build up to your desired boost level faster.
