I installed an Automter EGT gauge and no my car idles really bad. I drilled the hole in the manifold while the car was running. I shut it down and restarted it a couple times with the hole open. It made a very harsh sound on initial startup. I put it back together and now it idles really rough... what did I screw up? Did I hurt it by starting it with the hole expossed?

Try dis conecting the batter for 30 mins and try restarting should clear the computer. may fix your problem

You may have had a piece of metal go through the turbo. Since you shut it down and started it back up, it all may have not blown through. I recommend anyone doing this to use a handy magnetic tool while drilling and stick it into the hole until there's no more metal coming out.

Starting it with the hole exposed shouldn't hurt it or cause any noise except for the air passing through it.
